A coalition of youths, students, and community leaders under the banner of the Gabarin Students Movement 2027 has formally called on Honourable Adamu Babayo Gabarin to contest for the governorship of Bauchi State in the 2027 general elections.

At a press conference held in Bauchi on Monday, the group described Hon. Gabarin as a “tested and trusted leader” whose track record in public service has left indelible marks across key sectors of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the movement, Comrade Ahmad Dahiru, the Public Relations Officer, said the call became necessary in view of the challenges confronting Bauchi State and the need for visionary leadership.

“We are not here for politics as usual, but for the future of Bauchi State,” Dahiru declared. “Hon. Gabarin has consistently demonstrated integrity, competence, and compassion in every office he has held. The people of Bauchi are calling on him to step forward and offer himself for service in 2027.”

The group highlighted Gabarin’s achievements, including reforms in land administration as Commissioner for Lands and Survey, improvements in government communication as Commissioner for Information, contributions to healthcare as Senior Special Adviser on Health, and youth empowerment initiatives as Commissioner for Youth and Sports.

“Ask the farmer in Dass who gained access to land through fairer policies, ask the rural mother whose child received care in a clinic that once lacked attention, or the young athlete who discovered his talent through sports programs — they will tell you that Hon. Gabarin has touched lives directly,” Dahiru added.

The movement stressed that Bauchi State is at a critical juncture, grappling with unemployment, insecurity, underfunded schools, and inadequate healthcare, but also blessed with opportunities in agriculture, youth innovation, and natural resources.

“We believe Hon. Gabarin embodies the balance of experience and vision that Bauchi needs at this turning point,” Dahiru said. “Our pledge is simple: we will walk hand in hand with him on this journey to restore hope and prosperity for every citizen.

The press conference ended with chants of solidarity from supporters, who vowed to mobilize across wards and communities to ensure Gabarin’s emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and eventual victory in 2027.
