Adamawa State Government has received consignment of medical equipment from the United States worth over a billion nair at the state specialist hospital Yola.
The Medical Director of the State specialists Hospital Dr. Wadinga Dauda received the equipment on behalf of the state government in Yola.
In an interview with journalists, Dr. Dauda revealed that the medical consignment which contains: theater bed and consumables, laboratory equipment, wheelchair and other variety of medical consumables is the fifth container received from the United States of America meant for use in Hospitals in the state.
He emphasized that the medical equipment will be largely used in the new cottage hospitals that are yet to be commissioned at Dumne, Demsa and Fofure LGAs.
He noted that the availability of the equipment is an indication that the cottage hospitals that are not yet commissioned will be inaugurated soon.
He maintained that the development is worth commending considering the importance of the medical consignment, some of which he said are not available in general hospitals in the state due to its cost.
He further added that with 33 additional containers of medical consignment expected to arrived the state, the state cottage hospitals will be fortified enough to take care of cases that will require referral.
