Taraba INEC holds ICCES Last Meeting Before Election

Few hours to the Presidential and National Assembly election, the Independent Electoral Commission INEC in Taraba State says all sensitive materials have been distributed to the sixteen local government areas of the state successfully.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Umar Muktar Gajiram disclosed this during the opening of Inter Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting held at the INEC office in Jalingo on Friday.

He said despite a little challenge they had experienced in transporting the materials from Yola, Adamawa State where they lodged them for safe keeping due to lack of space at the CBN’s Jalingo branch who are operating in a rented building pending the completion of their permanent building along CBN bypass.

Gajiram commended the security agencies that comprised the Police, Army, DSS, NSCDC, NIS, Nigeria Prison Service, National Fire Service, and NYSC among other stakeholders for a cordial partnership toward ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections in the state.

The meeting which started at about 4:45 pm is expected to last for five hours and had in attendance the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Umar Muktar Gajiram, Commandant of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army Jalingo, Brigadier General Frank Etim, CP, Yusuf Suleiman, State Director of DSS, Ibrahim Saleh, state Comptroller of NIS, Hallid Usman, and Corps Commander Serina Daniel of the FRSC Taraba State Command among other.

Meanwhile, 2,022,374 registered voters are expected to cast their votes in Taraba State.
