6 Brigade Deepens Disaster Management Ties, Hosts NEMA N-East Zonal Director In Taraba

In a move to reinforce inter-agency collaboration for improved emergency response, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, on Monday 21 July 2025, hosted the Zonal Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North East Zone, Mr. Yakubu Lawal, and his delegation at the Brigade Headquarters in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Jalingo.

Welcoming the NEMA team, Brigadier General Uwa commended the agency for its relentless efforts in mitigating disaster impacts and delivering humanitarian assistance across the country. 

He lauded NEMA’s timely interventions and reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to supporting disaster response initiatives.

“The role NEMA plays in cushioning the impact of disasters is commendable, and 6 Brigade remains ever ready to support your operations whenever the need arises,” the Commander assured.

In his response, Mr. Lawal acknowledged the Nigerian Army’s vital contributions to national emergency and disaster response efforts, citing the military’s crucial support during the 2024 flood emergency in Borno State.

He also warned of early flood risk projections in parts of Taraba and Adamawa States due to expected heavy rainfall, stressing the need for sustained synergy with the Brigade in mitigating potential threats.

Also speaking, Mr. Yakubu Suleiman emphasized the importance of continued partnership with 6 Brigade, applauding the Brigade’s pivotal role in supporting civil authorities and reducing disaster risks within Taraba State.

The courtesy visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph to commemorate the visit.
