Summit: Gov Fintiri Urges Youths To Embrace Digital Skills Acquisition

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged youths in Adamawa to embrace the acquisition of skills created by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the betterment of the state.

He gave the charge on Wednesday while declaring open a 2-day Youth Summit on ICT skills convened by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth empowerment, Safrat Dungus which held in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola.

Governor Fintiri says as a matter of deliberate policy, his administration, has always placed youths at the centre of its programmes and projects especially in the area of education and entrepreneurship among other sectors.

He therefore commends the eagerness of the participants to acquiring new skills in the ICT at the summit which he noted is a testament to their determination to succeed and contribute to the development the state.

The Governor urged youths to commit to innovation, continues learning and progress as well as collaborate with one another to build Adamawa to prosperity that the yet unborn generation will be proud of.

Earlier in her remarks, the convener of the programme, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Safrat Dungus said the summit was organised to empower youths and shape their future.

She underscores the committment of the government to ensuring that youths regardless of their background, religion, social status or party affiliation have the opportunity to contribute to the progress of Adamawa.

The Youth Summit which has the theme “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders was being attended by youths from across the twenty one local government areas of Adamawa State.

Gov Fintiri Grants Pardon to 5 Inmates, Commutes 2 Death Sentences

As part of the 2024 Democracy Day celebrations, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has granted pardon to five inmates, including a female, from various correctional centers in the state.


The pardoned inmates are: Ali Abdul, Mohammed Goni, and Hapsatu Idi from Yola Old Correctional Centre, Buba Usman Mai from Numan Correctional Centre and Yusuf Ali and Babala Benson from Yola New Correctional Facility.

Additionally, the Governor has commuted the death sentences of two convicts, Usman Inuwa and Joseph Eugene, to life imprisonment. Both are serving at Yola New Correctional Centre.

Governor Fintiri’s actions are based on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy and the powers conferred on him by Section 212(i) (d) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

The release of the five inmates and the commutation of the two death sentences to life imprisonment take immediate effect, as all legal formalities have been concluded with the correctional institutions.

The Senator Representing Adamawa central senatorial district, Aminu Iya Abbas ( Iya Adamawa) has asked the people of the State to support governments at all levels towards providing meaningful development to the electorate.

Senator Abbas who doubles as chairman Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology in the National Assembly made the call on behalf of the people of Adamawa central in a statement through his Yola media office, to commemorate the 2024 Democracy Day.

The Federal lawmaker specifically congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON other Senators of the Federal Republic, Speaker of the Adamawa Assembly Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, other members of the house and the good people of Adamawa State on the occasion of 2024 Democracy Day.
Aminu Iya Abbas (PDP Adamawa) while congratulating the leadership of of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels urged the electorate to support leaders to enable them deliver more devidends of democracy.
The Senator further commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and other leaders for their leadership qualities and wish them success.

Democracy Day: Chair Adamawa Board Of Internal Revenue, Njabari Greets Fintiri, Speaker, Others

The Chairman Adamawa Internal Revenue Services Alhaji HammanAdama Njabari, has congratulated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON on the occasion of 2024 Democracy Day.

Njabari also saluted the governor for meeting the yearnings and aspirations of electorate especially the conducive environment to the people of the state.

The AIRS Boss in a message on behalf of the Management and Staff of the Revenue Services Board to commemorate the 2024 Democracy Day described Fintiri as man of proven integrity.

He also congratulated the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Bathiya Wesley and other members of the House, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Captains of the Industries, Members of the Business Community and the Good People of Adamawa on the Occasion of Democracy Day.

The Revenue Boss also used the medium and called on the people of the state to compliment the effort of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led Administration in it’s effort to Boost revenue generation in the State by paying their TAXES for more people oriented projects

As Governor of Adamawa State, the chairman of AIRS affirms that Fintiri has contributed to various reforms in the state.

He prays that the almighty God will continue to bless Gov Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and grant him good health and long life to witness more successes ahead.
