Hajj 2024: Taraba Govt Spends Over N900m To Sponsor Individuals To Saudi

The Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the National Hajj Commission initially allocated 1,568 seats to the State for the 2024 Hajj exercise. 

Alhaji Hamza Baba Muri, the Public Relations Officer of the Board, disclosed this via telephone in Jalingo.

Out of the allotted seats, 1,002 have already been filled. 

1000 intending pilgrims registered, and the State Government sponsored 113 individuals. 

889 people have self-sponsored their pilgrimage, and two people have registered under the Hajj Savings Scheme.

This year, the cost of the Hajj fare for the intending pilgrims from northern Nigeria is N8.2 million, while those from the southern part will pay N8.4 million.

It has been reported that the Taraba state government has spent N926,600,000 and sponsored 113 of its intending pilgrims. 

Recall that on Friday, April 26, 2024, Governor Agbu Kefas, Ph.D., approved the appointment of HRM Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo as the 2024 Almirul Hajj. 

A press statement issued on the same day by Yusuf Sanda, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said that HRH Alhaji Ado Adamu Mazang and HRH Alhaji Garba Bawuro-Chief of Ibi were appointed as members of the Amirul Hajj Committee with immediate effect.
