ICPC, BPSR Declare Lottery Trust Fund Best Agency In Accountability

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), have declared the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), as the best performing Federal Government Agency in accountability.

BPSR and ICPC, in their separate annual reports, stated that NLTF emerged the best agency with the record of zero tolerance for corruption and strict compliance with due process.

They further described the NLTF as the overall best performing agency in terms of resource management.

According to the BPSR, at the end of its 2022 Self and Validation assessments and in-depth analysis of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), discovered that the NLTF’s operations, processes and systems performance was 75.24 per cent, and therefore emerged a Gold Level organisation that exceeds expectations.

BPSR revealed that during assessment of the various MDAs, was found to be the best and overall agency in essential areas of responsibility and quality of work, as well as resources accountability.

”During our 2022 Self-assessment Tool (SAT) to the Management of the National Lottery Trust Fund Head office in Abuja, what we discovered during the exercise was quite impressive and encouraging” Ibrahim Dasuki , Director General of the Bureau was quoted as saying during the award presentation to Dr Bello Maigari, Executive Secretary of the NLTF.

Dasuki analysed and explained the NLTF performance constantly exceeded expectations in all essential areas and was therefore, adjudged to be above average.

Also, the ICPC during its second national summit against graft, tagged “Diminishing Corruption in Public Service and 20th Anniversary of the ICPC” with the theme: “Together Against Corruption ” presented awards to NLTF as the second best among MDAs with zero tolerance for corruption and strict compliance with due process.

” ICPC ethics intergrity and compliance score card among 360 federal agencies assessed by the anti graft commission found NLTF as the second best agency with zero tolerance for corruption and due process “.

The Anti graft agency recognised the Maigari- led administration for judicious utilisation of agency’s resources; and on that note that the ICPC awarded it the second best agency among MDAs with due process record and zero tolerance for corruption.

”Dr. Bello Maigari, no doubt, is one of the few most highly respected and intellectual personalities saddled with the responsibility of overseeing critical government agencies, such as the NLTF.

”Because of Maigari’s leadership, achievements and track records in discharging good governance, the Federal Government commends the agency for its remarkable progress in rural water supply and Sanitation across the country.”

The above commendation was made by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr Zaphaniah Jisalo, during official commissioning of motorised Boreholes in 15 communities in Benue State.

According to the Minister, the Federal Government is absolutely impressed with the agency’s performance on delivering good outcomes and interventions in spite of the dwindling global economy and with meagre resources.

Kushi Hosts Media Parley, Reaffirms Fintiri’s Commitment To Achieving Sets Target

A media parley which bought about stakeholders and press men in the media industry was held in Yola, the capital city of Adamawa State.

The event which took place at command guest house was organized by the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Adamawa State on media and communications, Mr George Kushi.

Kushi while delivering his speech informed that the idea of the parley was a way to keeping the press and the populace abreast with current activities of government.

He stresses that contrary to the assumed notion that governors who have won elections for the second time renege on promises of embarking on projects, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has proved them wrong by continuing with the implementation of numerous like impacting project to achieve the set target.

Kushi enumerated construction of the super highway, the road links at Bajabure, payment of gratuities, empowerment programmes, remodelling of the shopping complex, payment of Senior Secondary School final year exams fees amongst many projects that have direct bearing on the common man

In his remarks at the event, the Chief of Staff Government House, Yola, Dr Edgar Amos who was represented by Dr Adamu Babikoi, special adviser to the governor on good governance enumerated more achievements recorded by the Fintiri led administration.

On her part, the state commissioner for information and strategy, Hon Neido Geoffrey gave the assurance of open doors on the part of government to always provide answers to any questions the media and the public might need to know.

The special adviser to the governor on communications and strategy, Dr John Ngamsa explained government’s role in tackling issues of climate change and the drive towards tackling insecurity as well as the efforts of the Fintiri led administration toward sustainable wealth creation and good governance.

Contributing, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor. Mr Humwashi Wonosikou highlighted more of the government’s poise to achieve its 8 points agenda, he further reveal the intention of governor Fintiri to maintain the pace in developing until every sector is touched where everyone in the state will benefit.

The parley which broke into an interactive session saw journalists asking relevant question and seeking clarifications on so many aspect regarding the administration.

Flooding: JDPC Yola Diocese Distributes Relief Items To 1,500 Victims In Adamawa

No fewer than 1,500 victims affected by flooding got assorted items including wash kits, soaps, Jerry cans and other items meant to promote hygiene were distributed by Justice Development Peace Commission (JDPC) Yola Diocese.

Speaking during the distribution of the relief package, on Thursday in the state capital, the director of JDPC Yola diocese, Rev father Morris Kwairanga noted that the items were provided by USAID through IOM.

He said the essence of sharing the package is to ensure that the victims maintain good hygiene to prevent them from contaminating diseases.

He told newsmen that the beneficiaries were drawn from four local governments of Yola South, Yola North, Girei and Numan.

The cleric added that in addition to the items distributed, another component of the project which involved cash transfers will be implemented in the course of time.

“There will be another component of the intervention which is cash transfer. All the beneficiaries here will be disbursed some cash through their banks,” he said.

He said the items are being distributed under strick supervision and control to avoid shortchanging the beneficiaries adding that all the items have been brought forward for onward distribution directly to the beneficiaries.

Kwairanga called on anyone who observed any act of dishonesty during the process or felt shortchanged to report directly to his office so that the complaints will be looked into.

Appreciating the gesture, one of the beneficiaries, Felicia Monday expressed happiness with the intervention saying it will go a long way at ensuring development of hygiene.

She promised to utilize the items for the purpose they were brought urging other beneficiaries to also utilize the items judiciously.

Also speaking, the village head of Gwadabawa, Inuwa Hamman thanked the donors for the unparalleled gesture.

Hamman who vouched for the integrity of process involved in screening the beneficiaries said all the critical stakeholders were carried along to ensure only victims were selected.

He called on the beneficiaries to utilize the items judiciously to promote health and hygiene in their communities.

Eid-el-Fitr: Adamawa Revenue Board Chair, Njabari Felicitates With Gov Fintiri, Muslims

The chairman Adamawa State Revenue Board, Hamman Adama Njabari has congratulated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.

Njabari, in his Sallah message made available to this platform, urged Adamawa people, especially Muslim faithful, to continue devoting themselves to prayers for unity, peaceful coexistence, and the progress of the state.

“I congratulate all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration, ” he said

He called on people to continue keeping faith with the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, assuring that the state would continue to witness the type of greatness desired by citizens.

Njabari acknowledged that the efforts of the Governor Umaru Fintiri led administration to improving the revenue are yielding results, and advised people to pay taxes as and when due for the progrees of Adamawa.
