Northeast Govs Begin Meeting In Yola, Vow To Overcome Regional Challenges

Governors of the Nigerian Northeast sub region have declared open regional meeting of their forum in Yola with renewed commitment to overcome challenges of the region.

The event which held in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola Saturday has witnessed the presence of all the governors, top government officials among other dignitaries from the six states of the zone.

The chairman of the forum and Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum observed that the daunting challenges in the region indeed require collaborative efforts to tackle them.

He called on the federal government to assist the zone to overcome some of its problems such as deplorable condition of roads, lack of functional rail lines, and under utilization of the water ways among others.

Professor Zulum ommended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his determination to ensure prevailing peace in the zone and Nigeria, assuring however that the Governors will continue to safeguard regional peace.

He asked his counterparts to be committed to creating more opportunities, stimulate small industries, build agricultural value chain to address the alarming rate of unemployment and poverty in the region.

In his welcome remarks, the host Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State noted that the forum since inception has charted a new course and attracted the needed attention to the region.

Governor Fintiri enumerated that through the efforts of the forum, the Northeast states have won the battle against insurgency and restored peace and stabilization to the region.

He said the encouraging results witnessed by the region are stimulants of the efforts put in place by the Governors to ensuring robust development, peace and tranquility in the northeast states.

The Governors have therafter gone into a close door session.

Adamawa Lawmaker, Kefas Assures Toungo Constituents Of More Dividends Of Democracy

The Member Representing Toungo Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Kalvin Kefas, said in spite of the economic challenges in the State, he has been able to record some achievements in the areas of infrastructure and human capital development in the constituency.

Kefas who is the Chairman House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs of the 8th Assembly provided slides of his various empowerment programmes within his 12 MONTHS in office, ranging from Poverty Eradication Scheme to market men and women, boosting Agricultural activities though providing cash and other farming inputs to farmers, drilling and repairing some boreholes across the constituency.

The lawmaker said he also embarked on construction and renovation of clinics and blocks of classrooms, awarding scholarship to students in tertiary institutions and payment of school fees to some indigent students, among other educational development programs.

He said he is indeed thankful to the benevolent people of the Toungo Constituency who have not only given him the platform but as well handed me their yearning and aspirations.

According to him, In the last 365 days, he relevantly served his constituents and the state at large and contributed positively.

He added that, with his continuous stay and intentional drive, his impact would be tripled and more lives would be affected positively.

He revealed that, as part of activities marking his ONE YEAR in office as member representing Toungo Constituency, he recently Commissioned Some Projects and distributed food items to people across the various wards of the constituency to help cushion the effect of the economic hardship.

Kalvin kefas, while thanking the people of Toungo Constituency and the leadership of ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels for giving him their mandate and support, promised to continually strive to attract dividends of democracy through robust and effective representation.

He added that he will continue to support government efforts aimed at guaranteeing peace, security and welfare of all Adamawa people through effective legislation and oversight, pledging that he will strive to finish the work he have started as he will welcome ideas that will assist him in improving the quality of life of our people.

He further explained that due to sterling qualities and performance of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri the entire state has been transformed and the people indeed appreciate him.

Kefas who is among the most outstanding lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, also saluted the leadership qualities of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley and called for unity and cohesion among other political parties in the State legislature to ensure progress and peaceful development of the state.

Bill To Create Amana State Sponsored By Rep Jafar Passes 1st Reading

His desire to make Mubi North, and Mubi South truly become an international hub for businesses in Northern Nigeria and with other countries of Cameroon, Chad, Central Africa, and Mali.

The Member representing the Mubi North/Mubi South/Maiha federal constituency in the green chambers of the national assembly, Rt Hon Jafar Abubakar Haske has in a First reading sought the alteration of the constitution.

The federal Lawmaker craved the indulgence of his colleagues in the national assembly and the entire people of Adamawa State, especially those from the Northern Senatorial District to give him the maximum support.

Jafar in the bill altered coninstitutiontion to accommodate the creation of Amana State from the present-day Adamawa State, North East of Nigeria.

According toHihimitt only through the creation of Amana State that the entire Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa experience massive development.

Jafar while reading the bill told lawmakers that Mubi North and Mubi South are already business potential entities that generate high revenue for Athe Adamawatate government.

He said the two twin local government areas have been sources of rops, hide and skin, and other agricultural products.

He told this medium that he will rigorously pursue this bill by lobbying through the entire national assembly because he wants to leave an enduring legacy that will outlive his generation.

Jafar revealed that the bill seeking the Alteration of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has passed its first reading with a possibility of having its second will soon be heard.

“Mubi is very big and has been a commercial hub of the North Eastern region years ago. As I’m talking to you, I can beat my chest to tell you that will soon become the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria if this bill is passed into law.” Jafar Said

Gov Fintiri Felicitates With Yahaya Sahabo Abubakar On Elevation To DIG

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has extended his warmest congratulations to Yahaya Sahabo Abubakar on his well-deserved elevation to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), representing the North East Zone.

The Governor noted that “this prestigious appointment is a testament to your exceptional leadership and dedication to the Nigeria Police Force.” Before his appointment, DIG Abubakar served as the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 14, Katsina.

Governor Fintiri also congratulated Mohammed Adamu Dankwara, another illustrious son of Adamawa, on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

The Governor commended the Police Service Commission for recognizing their excellence and expressed hope that their elevation will significantly enhance the fight against crime in Nigeria. He charged them to leverage their wealth of experience to make a meaningful impact, stating, “I am particularly proud of your antecedents and believe in your capacity to turn around the rising insecurity situation. Make Adamawa proud, and do not compromise your positions due to the expectations placed upon you.”

Governor Fintiri urged the newly promoted officers to utilize their expertise to drive positive change and make a lasting impact on the nation’s security landscape.
