Each Northeast State To Get 60mw Coal Or 50mw Solar Power Plants – Govs’ Forum

Governors of the northeastern states of Nigeria have resolved to work with Shanghai Electric to construct 60 MW Coal Power Plant or 50 MW Solar Power Plant in each State of the region. 

This was part of the resolutions of the Northeast Governors’ Forum at the end of its 9th regional meeting which held in Yola the Adamawa State capital on Saturday. 

Reading the communique on behalf of his colleagues after a close door session, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State said the power plant would help to mitigate poor energy situation in the region. 

He said the forum notes the poor rail system in the and called for inclusion of the region into the National Railway Transport Plan using the Modern Guage rail and the National Road plan that the regiom is conspiciously missing.

The Forum notes that Climate Change and Environmental degradation are still major issues affecting the subregion and resolved to strengthen its collaboration with all initiatives such as the Great Green Wall and the Global Initiative of Carbon Credit financing.

The Governors appreciated the readiness of the Bauchi State Goverment to host the North East Regional Trade Fair between 26th February – 3rd March, 2024 and called on all the subnational entities within the region to actively

It appraises the compliance of the states with the decision earlier taken to domesticate the Education Law 2022, as recommended by the Northeast Education Council and called on states yet to do so to act in that regard. 

“Forum notes that although the security situation is improving positively in the region, there is need for more collaboration among member states in the design of the security achitecteure for the region. It thus, resolved to work more with the security agencies to have a common security roadmap for the North East.

“Forum notes the need for a robust platform for regional economic devepment. It thus, resolved to work as an entity in strengthening the human capacity and socio-econmic development of its people.

“Forum is contionously disturbed about the poor infrastructural base of the region. More concerned that the Federal roads within and between the states in the region have been neglected. It thus, call on the Federal Ministry of Works to follow through with road contracts awarded in the region. Poor road network is fuelling insecurity and stalling development and making life more difficult for our people in the region.

“Forum notes that the contractual encumberances on some of the bad federal roads within and between the States are major setbacks to the infrastructural development of the region. It calls on the NEDC to work with State Governments and the Federal Ministry of Works to remove the emcumberances and find more practical ways to intervene on these roads,” He said. 

Governor Buni said the Forum resolved to hold its 10th Meeting in Bauchi between 23rd February – 26th March, 2024.

He said the Adamawa born Educationist has proven beyond doubt is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a seasoned education Administrator.

According to him Tahir in just one year of the excellent leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has introduced policies and built physical infrastructure in many high institutions across the country.

Kwaccham, an APC Chieftain from Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State extolled Tahir sound knowledge in managing the ministry of Education and is constantly showing dexterity in trying to revive the sector.

He thanked Tinubu for taking the wise decision in appointing him at a time the country’s system of Education is in dire need of urgent intervention.

Kwaccham also said Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA) is another acumen leader whose arrival is solving the current situation of security uncertainties.

He said both Tahir and Ribadu are great Nigerians whose efforts in sanitizing the country in the area of insecurity and Education are unprecedented.

He urged traitors and backstabbers to decist from sending wrong signal on the the leadership of Tinubu which is focused on working for the overall interest of Nigeria.

He called on Nigerians to support the government of Tinubu for having a vision of changing country.

He also made a passionate appeal to Tahir and Ribadu to have deaf ears on those who want the country on the other way because they are working well.

Count NSA Out Of Emirate Dispute – APC Chieftain, Kwacham Warns Kano Politicians

The unimaginable drama from the reinstatement of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi III who was dethroned from being the Emir of Kano State is turning into something else according to a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Hon Abdullahi Abubakar Kwacham took a wipe lashes against some politicians who are dragging the name of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser (NSA) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have a hand on whatever is going on in Kano.

He said Nuhu is having a national interest not a Kano interest to make sure the entire nation is secure and every citizen is protected according to the provision of the law, he can’t stoop low over what he said the stakeholders are capable of resolving whatever is the difference.

Kwacham blasted those accusing the NSA of fuel the traditional stool drama as his political enemies that want to drag his name to the mud over what he has less interest on.

He lampooned those concern to have Make sure Kano State is secure and the Emirate Peaceful irrespective of who becomes the Emir not to have brought into the State shame that will outlived their generation yet unborn.

He said the open show of disgrace has stained the respectable Kano Emirate by desecrating the throne to a mere place of drama.

He advised Kano government and the the Emirate king makers to tow the path of peace that will unite the waring families.

According to him both Sanusi and Bayero are apparent sons to the throne, with both blood of royalty running through their veins. And nothing can be more better than the royal Brother to unite in the interest of peace.

“They are Brothers, the politicians should not find their throne struggles another means of settling their scores or political differences.

“For dragging Nuhu Ribadu into their Family fight who is not even from Kano talk more of being part of their family blood line is what I can’t never accept.

“Count NSA out of your open show of disgrace and figure out your issues by resolving it yourself. No one can do this for you, and don’t allow politician to make mockery of the throne that has Long history of good transitions.” Kwacham Said

Kwacham who granted a phone interview draw the attention of Kano Emirate that Nigerians and the entire world are indeed watching how the needless drama will unfold itself.

He however said their feign allegations will never discourage the NSA from doing his best to ensure that insecurity of whatever type come to a final bus stop in the country.

He said Nuhu is working and called on Nigerians to give him more support and ignore those who are politicizing the Kano Emirate struggles for primordial sentiments.

The APC Man said they are doing that for their political selfish reasons not the collective interest of Kano State indigenes or Nigerians.

He commended the Tinubu led administration for working the paths of reviving the country’s economy.

Dan Jarma Adamawa Calls On Tinubu To Interven In Kano Emirate Dispute

A Traditional Titleholder in Adamawa State, Dan Jarma Adamawa, Dr. Mustafa Tahir LLB, BL, LLM, Ph.d has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing dispute affecting the Kano Emirate Council.

Barr. Mustafa who expressed concern on the escalating situation, made the call in an interview with newsmen on Saturday at the Emir’s palace in Kano shortly after he led a delegation of Northeast Traditional Titleholders to pay homage on the reinstated King, HRH, Muhammad Sanusi II.

Dan Jarma said since the State House of Assembly was constitutionally empowered to enact laws, he saw no reason why anyone let alone the court would question the legality of its powers on the Kano Emirate Council (repeal) bill 2024.

He therefore called on President Tinubu to interven in the Kano Emirate dispute to nip in the bud any unforseen breach of security that may occur in the State.

On the rumours making the rounds that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu interferes in Kano Emirate crisis, Barrister Tahir described the allegation as untrue and unfounded.

He therefore appealed to the general public to disregard the rumour in totality, adding that NSA Nuhu Ribadu is a true leader and lover of peace.

The Dan Jarma thanked Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Rivers State Governor, Fubara Simi, the good people of Kano State among others for their show of concern on the dispute.

The Dan Jarma, urged citizens of Kano to be calm and law abiding while calling on politicians to refrain from interference that could plunge the state into chaos.
