Sports Minister, Sen. Enoh Hails Super Falcons’ Ease Past Lucy Of Ethiopia

The Hon. Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has applauded the exceptional performance of Nigeria’s Super Falcons as they reached the third round of the African qualifiers for next year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament on a 5-1 aggregate win over Feisty Lucy of Ethiopia. 

This is contained in a statement signed by the Director, of Press and Public Relations, Muhammed Manga FCAI.

Speaking briefly after the match, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister stated that Super Falcons have met the expectations of Nigerians with the defeat over the Lucy of Ethiopia.

He continued to say “This calls for our celebration, the Team also needs the encouragement of all Nigerians both at home and abroad.”

Senator Owan Enoh said, “Today’s match was the second I had watched since my appointment as the Minister of Sports Development.”

He stated that Nigeria’s performance in these tournaments confirms the policy objective of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration which is to ensure the development of the sector to provide the teeming youth with job opportunities, alleviate poverty amongst them as well as ensure a safe, peaceful and united nation of their dream.

He assured that under his watch as the Minister of  Sports Development, the Ministry will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Nigeria records podium finishes during all international competitions.

The Minister had before the commencement of the game charged the Super Falcons to redouble their efforts and consign Ethiopia to the heap to reach the penultimate round of qualifiers for next year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France.

Wikki FC Fans Have Fear For The Club To Remain Relegated

Wikki Tourists Football Club fans in Bauchi State have started to express fear for the club to remain relegated at the end of the 2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) season amid lack of sport administrator as Chairman of the club

Wikki Tourists suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nasarawa United last Saturday in Lafiya marking their loss at the season to 2nd position with 23 points from twelve matches.

Some fans are starting to worry that the club could be in danger of dropping down to the NNL Championship.

Adamu Saidu Wikki FC Fan said, As it stands, if Wikki Tourists lose in their next match with Yobe Desert, that could be in the relegation zone

Because the club needs sports administrators who would run the club effectively, get it out of relegation and triumph to the premier league.

“We need someone who knows Sports, speaks sports and coordinates sports urging the State government to look into the administration of Wikki Tourists management,” he said.

Another Sports Enthusiast James Bawa the management of Wikki need to take drastic steps or else they will remain relegated for ever.

The state government is trying but the management needs to work hard to meet up in their next matches.

“But should they not pick up a point in the next games Wikki would incredibly find themselves in the bottom three.

The Chairman of the Club Mr Auwal Gotal in his recent press briefing has hinted that it could take a while to turn things around.

“I didn’t expect to solve everything in one day. You have to have more aggression in your game, more speed and more competitive duels which go your way.

He commended the government for the support and funding of the club.
