Emir Tasks Traditional Title Holders On Uprightness, Diligence In Bauchi State

The Emir of Bauchi, Alh. Rilwanu Adamu has called on all the traditional title holders in the state to remain upright and diligent in the discharge of their duties.

The Emir made the call in Bauchi on Sunday during the official turbaning and installation of a business tycoon, Alh. Yakubu Ibrahim as the Santuraki Bauchi.

According to him, this would help in upholding the sacred nature of the Bauchi Emirate Council and enhance its mutual trust and reverence of the good people of Bauchi state.

He also urged the newly installed traditional title holder to always thread the footprint of his late father, Alh. Yakubu Lame, who held the title with absolute dignity, patience and fear of God.

“Your late father had been a good ambassador of the emirate whose enormous contributions to the upliftment of the living standard of the people of the state and the emirate in particular were unquantifiable, especially as regards to their livelihood,” said the Emir.

Speaking shortly after his installation, Ibrahim appreciated the Emir for finding him worthy of wearing his late father’s shoes at the Emirate Council.

He promised to abide by the culture and traditions of the institution, as well as assuring to positively contribute his best to the emirate and pledged his unalloyed loyalty to the emir, praying to God to enable him succeed in the tasks ahead.

“By the grace of the Almighty Allah, we will do what will push the emirate, Bauchi state and the country at large forward.

“Santuraki is a post that has been in existence for a very long time and it means the most trustworthy amongst the son’s of a king in Kano.

“If a child is very close to the king and does all his biddings, he will be bestowed the title sarkin turaka which is Santuraki in abbreviation.

“Thank God the name santuraki came to Bauchi and I was chosen as one which I inherited from my late father,” he explained.

Also, one of the kingmakers, Alh. Aliyu Yakubu, District Head, Lame, who lauded the Emir for putting a round peg in a round hole, said the installation was not only important to the people of Lame District but to the Bauchi Emirate Council as well as the people of the state in general.

“We believe that the new title holder is equal to the task because he is such a person that is obedient.

“I want to believe that this Emirate has done the real thing they are supposed to do by fishing out somebody that is dedicated, honest, sincere and hard working.

“I will advise him to be patient and tolerant as a position of power like this comes with a lot of observation, patience and he must remain focused on what brought him here

The colourful ceremony was graced by a number of the emirate council members, relatives, friends, supporters and well-wishers who prayed for the guidance and blessings of the emir to the new Santuraki Bauchi.

How Taraba Govt Appoints Two Third-Class Chiefs

The Taraba State Government is pleased to announce the appointment of two 3rd Class Chiefs in the Takum Local Government Area of the State. 

The appointments of HRH Uhwe Bala Ephraim as the 3rd-Class Chief (Tsohon Jukun Takum) and HRH Barr. Sopiya Ahmadu Gboshi III as the 3rd-Class Chief (Gar Chamba Takum) has been duly approved by the Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, following their nomination by Takum traditional kingmakers.

A statement, signed by Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo and distributed to newsmen by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yusuf Sanda, the Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation, has indicated that these appointments serve to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Takum and promote community development.

HRH Uhwe Bala Ephraim and HRH Barr. Sopiya Ahmadu Gboshi III are highly experienced and have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to their respective communities.

The Taraba State Government extends its congratulations to the newly appointed Royal Chiefs and encourages all stakeholders and residents to support their leadership. 

The Royal Chiefs will work together to foster unity, preserve cultural values, and promote socio-economic growth in Takum, Taraba State.

NYSC Coordinator, Nzoka Drops Strong Message To Corps Members In Taraba

The 2023 Batch C Stream II Corps Members have been advised to appreciate, learn, and understand the positive aspects of the diverse cultures of all Nigerians in a bid to promote,  sustain, and deepen National unity and integration. 

The Coordinator of NYSC Taraba state, Mr. Anthony M. Nzoka disclosed this when he flagged off the cultural carnival event of the ongoing orientation course at the permanent orientation camp, Sibre.

Speaking further at the occasion, he implored the members to be very cautious of what they say or do at any time or place, rather they should say or do things that will uphold the unity and oneness of the country, despite their individual religious, political, and social affiliations. 

The well-attended carnival provided an opportunity for the Corps Members to showcase on a platoon basis their ingenuity and originality on some of the selected tribes in the country,  like the Hausa, Fulani, Mumuye, Tiv, Yoruba, Igbo, Kutep, Mabila amongst others.

Selected groups of corps members, the Orientation Broadcasting Service, Red Cross, Band, and Corps medical team,  were rewarded for their outstanding and tremendous performances in the ongoing orientation course.

In attendance include key camp officials and friends of the scheme.

Group Urges FG To Immortalise First Chairman Public Service Commission, Sule Katagum

Group under the auspices of Coalition for the Protection of Democratic Right Group has appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria under Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu to name the Federal University of Health Sciences and Nutrition Azare, after First Chairman Federal Public Service Commission Alhaji Sule Katagum.

Amb. Adamu Jikan Manu.National Coordinator the group made the appeal at the News briefing on Wednesday in Kaduna, Saying Alhaji Sule Katagum contributed immensely to the development of the country that deserves to be Immortalised.

“We are appealing to President Tinubu to Immortalise Alhaji Sule Katagum and name the Federal University of Health Sciences and Nutrition Azare. (SKUHSA) after him.

“We call with respect and honor to look at the kind of work he did, which include patriotism, self-sacrifice for our country’s independence, contribute to the improvement of government work

“Sule Katagum will continue to be remembered because of the contribution he made to the building of this country and his dignity will continue to be remembered, as he made a useful contribution to the Usman Dan Fodio empire. May God bless him and forgive him.

“We assure our unreserved loyalty and to protect democratic rights and respect the first leaders especially those who worked and sacrificed themselves to build our country,” the coordinator said.

The National Coordinator explained that the late Alh Sule Katagum contributed to the development of the country in terms of education, economy, protecting the interests of the community and sacrificing for the country’s independence.

“He lived his time to see our country become a free country and gain mutual understanding for the development of our country.

According to him, when the British colonial administration was about to withdraw on 1st October 1960, Alhaji Sule was saddled with the responsibility, as Chairman of the Federal Service Commission to ensure smooth transition from the British government.

“He was able to effectively manage the police, the Nigeria customs service, immigration service, prisons service and the foreign service, with the full cooperation of his commissioners,” Jikan Manu said

He said Katagum is among the first leaders whom history will not forget, he worked with Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Sokoto from the North and he worked with Dr. Zik, Awo from the South East of the country.

He said the testimony Katagum got from across the country was honesty, patience, experience, sacrifice, patriotism and by distancing himself from race or religion

“Based on these values and good deeds of Alh Sule Katagum we beseech you to accept our request which will make our nation happy and at the same time sustain the good name of this great personality,” Jikan Manu said.
