Gov Fintiri Commends Military For Restoring Peace, Stability To Northeast

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has lauded the Nigerian Air Force for its commitment towards restoring peace and stability to all parts of the North East and Adamawa State in particular.

The Governor who stated this during the End of Year 2022 Base Sociocultural Activities (BASA) of the Nigerian Air Force 153 Base Services Group that held at the premises of the Air Force Base in Yola Friday.

Governor Fintiri expressed delight that the officers have continued to courageously confront these criminals while recording tangible results in the various Theatres of Operation.

The Governor observed that apart from providing an opportunity to bond with family members, the base social activities goes a long way to promote comradeship and regimentation in the Service.

“This event is significant given the rigors that Officers and Airmen/women face daily while conducting internal security operations. We deeply appreciate the sacrifice that you have all been making all over the Country. 

“We can only imagine but appreciate the tolls, It is taking on the officers Airmen/Airwomen and the families while tackling the security challenges facing our dear Nation and obstacles to our development. 

“This can only be surmounted if we remain resolute, focused and united in our efforts to rid the Country of all Insurgents, Terrorists, Armed Bandits and other criminal elements. 

“I must therefore state that I am proud of the efforts of all officers and airmen/airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force particularly in Adamawa State who have shown gallantry and have through that brought the peace and security that we now enjoy,” Fintiri said.

He restated that his Administration will continue to support the Nigerian Air-force, I urge you not to relent in sustaining the momentum until the insurgents are completely eliminated.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his continued support to the Armed Forces and, in particular, the Nigerian Air Force, by providing the enabling conditions that made Airpower a vital component of the war against Terror.

In his welcome address, Commander 153 Base Services Group, Air Commodore AL Dakwat revealed that the event is organised annually to showcase the cultural diversity of the personnel of the Nigeria Air Force.

Air Commodore Dakwat added that the BASA will not only enhance peace and unity but bring the officers to socialize in an informal way in line with core values and ethics of Nigeria Air Force.

He reafirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Air force to continue to protect the integrity and security of the state and Nigeria and thanked the government and people of Adamawa for their support to the security outfit.

Highlights of the event were display of Marshall Art, Tag of War, and various cultural and dance performances as well as presentation of gifts to winners of Long Tennis and Football Competitions by Governor Umaru Fintiri.

TSHA Member, Sarki Renovates, Commissions VGN Ward Office In Jalingo

The member representing Jalingo I in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki has reiterated his commitment to contributing his quota in providing adequate security in his Constituency.

He stated this on Monday 3/6/2024 during the commissioning ceremony of a renovated outpost of the VGN at Turaki ‘A’ Ward in Jalingo.

Sarki said he renovated the VGN Ward office with the view to encourage members of the group to continue with their good job of assisting the police and other security agencies in protecting the lives and property of the citizens.

Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki commended members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Taraba State for their selfless service to humanity and urged them not to relent to continue supporting in combating crimes across the state.

Responding, the Jalingo LG VGN Commander, Munir Bello Abubakar described the gesture by the legislator as a morale booster for their members to redouble their commitment to duty.

Munir Bello Abubakar, who is also the North-east VGN’s Zonal Deputy Commander of Administration, called on wealthy individuals and other politicians to emulate Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki by supporting VGN in the state.

He reaffirmed their resolve to continue supporting security agencies in combating crimes in society at all levels in Taraba State.

Boko Haram Commander, Five Fighters Surrender To MNJTF

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of Operation Lake Sanity II has announced the surrender of Adamu Muhammad, Boko Haram terrorist commander, and 5 other fighters to Sector 3 MNJTF in Monguno, Borno State Nigeria on Thursday. 

In a statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer N’djamena-Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi to journalists in Maiduguri on Friday noting that it has intensified its operations against the terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region.

He said the terrorists escaped from the ISWAP faction hideout in Jubillaram, situated in Southern Lake Chad. 

“Adamu, 22 years old, had participated in numerous terrorist attacks and roamed around Kangarwa, Alagarno, Doro Naira, and Dogon Chikwu in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State, Nigeria.

“During their surrender, they handed over 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one warhead of anti-aircraft rounds.

“Other surrendered fighters include;  Isah Ali, 18 years old; Hassan Modu, 18 years old; Nasir Idris, 23 years old escort for the Commander of Jubillaram Usman Rash; Abba Aji, 21 years old and
Abubakar Isah, 20 years old.”Lt Col Abdullahi said.

He added that the surrendered fighters are currently undergoing investigation.

He said this brings the total number of terrorists who have surrendered since the commencement of Operation Lake Sanity ll on 23 April 2024 to 119.

The MNJTF appeals to other terrorists to follow suit, lay down their arms, and embrace peace. We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region.

VGN Rescue 3 Kidnapped Victims, Arrest Suspects In Taraba

The Taraba State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims. 

The Command’s VPRO, Suleiman Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement released to newsmen in Jalingo. 

The victims were rescued when the Special Tactical Squad of the VGN invaded the kidnappers’ camps at Kachalla mountain in the Lau LGA of the state following a tip-off. 

The rescued victims are Alhaji Dankawu, 60 years old, a 13-year-old named Haruna Shagari, and Alhaji Isa, 67 years old. 

Alhaji Dankawu was kidnapped at Garin Dogo, Haruna Shagari at Yolde Kindang, and Alhaji Isa at Lushi village. One of the victims, Haruna Shagari, has been reunited with his family.

During the operation, the Command arrested two of the suspected kidnappers, Sale Manu and Manu Siddiki, who confessed to the crime without torture. 

In a video clip, Sale Manu specifically stated that they own five (5) AK47 rifles for operations and listed other gang members who are currently on the run.

The VGN Commander, Munir Bello Abubakar, who is the North-east VGN’s Zonal Deputy Commander of Administration, revealed that they had destroyed the kidnappers’ camps at Kachalla mountain in the Lau LGA of the State on May 12th, 2024. 

Additionally, an informant named Murtala Santi, who lives in Minda along the Kona-Lau road, was also arrested by members of the VGN. 

Commander Munir Bello Abubakar reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting security agencies in combating crimes across the state.
