CITAD Empowers Young Girls On Digital Livelihood Skills In Bauchi

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has empowered 20 young girls and women on digital Livelihood skills in Jama’are and Itas Local government areas of Bauchi State

on Thursday in Jama’are, said that the training was aimed at empowering the young girls to be self-reliant.

He said with the world becoming a global village in the face of modern technological innovations women should make the best use of digital innovations at the end of 6 months training.

“It is a program that introduces them to basic and advanced knowledge on computer usage, business incubation and idea development designed to run for a year” He added.

According to him, technology/IT is important, considering that the world has advanced beyond the stage of doing things manually which makes technology-driven businesses more faster and successful.

Engr. Abdullahi further charged the participants to make good use of the opportunities provided to them by CITAD to establish their entrepreneurship empires.

He explained that the young women and girls were trained on Graphics Design, Audio, Video Editing and Photography among others.

The TO said women and girls need to be empowered especially through the utilization of digital knowledge so that they can be self-reliant through different business areas.

Mrs Hussaina Ibrahim Hamma, who was trained in photography who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, explained that they were equipped with knowledge on how to utilize ICT towards running a successful business enterprise as well as to bridge the gap between the genders.

“Adding that young women and girls need to be empowered especially through the utilization of digital knowledge so that they can achieve self-reliance in different business areas.

She also expressed their gratitude to the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) of the laudable programme and promised to make good use of the knowledge acquired.

Sen Yaroe Donates 71 HP Computers To 3 Tertionary Institutions In Adamawa

Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe of the Adamawa southern Senatorial district has donated seventy one (71) units of HP computers to the three (3) tertionary institutions domiciled in his Senatorial Zone.

Distributing the computers to various heads of the institutions at a brief ceremony in Mayo-belwa local government area Tuesday, Mrs Victoria Bilkisu Abubakar, Managing Director/CEO of ALKAF Global Resources Limited announced that the gesture was facilitated by Senator Yaroe with a view to support information technology advancement in the zone .

Mrs Abubakar said that, the idea was concieved a year ago when it was noticed that during online registration for examinations or digital related issues crops up, then students and others in need from the constituency must have to travel to Yola,the state capital for such considerations.

Abubakar noted that the Senator Yaroe immediately engaged her firm to supply the latest version of HP computers worth millions of Naira for onward distribution to the benefiting institutions including; College of Healths Technology Mayo-belwa,College of Agriculture Ganye, and State Polytechnic Yola,Numan campus respectively.

In  his remarks at the occasion, Senator Yaroe said that the whole concept was to support the students and institutions in his Senatorial Zone to catch up with the rapid global trends in the ICT advancement.

Senator Yaroe noted that he personally visited all the three institutions and observed that they were lacking in the information technology learning atmosphere which is now believe to be a driving force in the scheme of things world over.

He explained that part of his commitment to uplift his constituents in ICT advancement,a skill acquisition centre is under construction already in Numan noting that, a standard ICT hall (Centre) is among the areas to be giving top priority as an empowerment tool to his constituents especially students.

He however, charged the administrators of the tertionary institutions to ensure absolute and judicious use of the computers so that the students and teachers can improve their academic capabilities in digital related activities.

In their separate responses,Hayatu Stephen Augustine of State Polytechnic Yola,Numan campus,Ahmad Usman,Provost, College of Healths Technology.Mayo-belwa and Provost College of Agriculture Ganye, Engineer Hussaini Danjuma Idris expressed gratitude  to the Senator Yaroe for the opportunity accorded  their colleges to be reconnected with the global again.

They pledged to ensure that the computers are put in use judiciously  as expected of them promising to inculcate total maintanance culture so that they can be durable for long time to come.

Our Correspondent in Yola reported that, state polytechnic Yola,Numan Campus received thirty one (31)units while the remaining two colleges got twenty (20) sets of the computers each accordingly.

Bauchi, Federal Mine Office Seal Mining Site At Gwana District

Bauchi State Ministry of Natural Resources in collaboration with relevant bodies in the mining sector has sealed the abandoned mining site in Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State.

The decision was to restore order by mitigating all the illegal activities taking place in the mining site towards protecting the interest of all the parties involved including the company “Imperial Joint Venture Company” (IJV) that granted approval to embark on the activities in the area, host communities as well as an Indian firm named Cosmic Metal which sought to takeover the abandoned site after IJV vacated since the recent advent of Covid-19 pandemic.

A statement by the Information Officer, Bauchi State Ministry of Natural Resources noted the commissioner Muhammed Maidawa Bello after meeting with the stakeholders constituted a five-man committee to include the Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairman, representative of the Federal Mine office Bauchi, the State Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp NSCDC and Village Head of Gwana to investigate the matter in two weeks and provide adequate security around the area.

The statement further states that when the India company moved to takeover operations in the site there was a strong resistance from the host communities who claimed that there are pending agreements between them and former mining firm.

These among other controversial issues related to the mining site required urgent intervention to forestall order and guarantee adequate security of all the parties involved.

The statement added that Bauchi State Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources remained committed to fostering harmony through active collaboration with critical stakeholders towards ensuring a sustainable peace.

The MD reiterated that embracing cloud computing is critical for a stable and sustained economic growth.

“It is therefore paramount that organisations embrace the technology and explore its endless possibilities by unlocking its potentials.

” It provides enormous cost-savings, productivity through increased efficiency and effectiveness, guarantee scalability,” He said

The MD Galaxy Backbone added that it also promotes collaboration and facilitates market entry for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), foster innovation, and enable global reach.

“As businesses continue to leverage cloud-based technologies, economic growth is expected to be further accelerated, creating a more connected and digitally-driven economy.

“The numerous benefits that come with cloud computing, the need to ensure data sovereignty, data security, privacy and protection as well as guarantee digital trust within the National digital economy space.

Earlier, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, President, Nigeria Computer Society, said communications and electronic systems have the potentials to achieve lasting and positive impacts on economic prosperity, development and stability of any nation

“A viable communication infrastructure will facilitate enhanced service delivery and efficiency in agriculture, production healthcare, business, education, social interaction and national planning.,” Sodiya said.
