2023: I Won’t Force You To Support Me – Gov Fintiri Tells Perm Secs

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has told the Permanent Secretaries in the state that they have freedom to support any candidate of their choice in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

The Governor revealed this when he received in audience the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in the state on a courtesy call in the Conference Hall, Government House Yola, Wednesday.

Governor Fintiri restates that he will not force anybody to support him, stressing that it is democracy, the permanent Secretaries have the right to choose who they want.

“I’m not a Governor that forces permanent Secretaries to be on the side of government, you have your freedom, you have your right support anybody of your choice. God the Giver of power has already known who He will Give power.

“I think all of us have taken it on ourselves to work for our state. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Governor, Permanent Secretary or messenger in the office, all of us are putting our best for our father land,

“We should all commend ourselves that the state is rising again, that the state is moving forward, that the state is better, that the state will be great in accordance with our dream and the dream of our children,” he said.

The Governor however asked them to support his re-election bid pointing out that most of them are products of good policies of his administration and reafirmed his commitment to continue to make Adamawa great again.

“Most of you are products of our good policies. if it is by connections some of you wouldn’t have been here. I solicit your support. Let’s work together for our state,” the Governor said.

He appreciates their support and prayers as according to him the giant strides recorded by his administration would not have been achieved without their support to the government policies.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Head of Service, Doctor Edgar Amos Sunday who is the leader of the delegation described Governor Fintiri as focused and futuristic leader that change the narratives in the state.

He congratulated the Governor for the various awards he received because of his achievements in office and assured him that the permanent Secretaries will continue to rally round his administration.

The Bauchi State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Union has commended Governor Bala Mohammed’s recent approval of wages for civil servants in the state.

The acting Chairman Comrade Ibrahim Mai Kuɗi praised the gesture during a press briefing, noting that civil servants are thrilled with the support, especially with the Sallah celebrations approaching.

Comrade Mai Kuɗi emphasized that this gesture is a worthy celebration, considering the current economic challenges facing citizens nationwide.

He encouraged civil servants to use the Sallah gift judiciously, acknowledging the state government’s efforts to alleviate workers’ hardships.

The labour leader also appealed to the state government to extend similar gestures to pensioners, who have served the state diligently and deserve equal consideration.

The Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council and ALGON Chairman in Taraba State, Animu Jauro Hassan on behalf of the council extended their heartfelt congratulations to Governor Agbu Kefas on the occasion of Democracy Day.

In a statement signed and released to newsmen in Jalingo on Wednesday, Hassan said the leadership of Governor Kefas has been a beacon of hope and progress for the people of the state.

He maintained that Kefas’s commitment to democracy and the well-being of his people has brought about significant advancements in various sectors, fostering growth and development across the state.

The statement continues to say “As we celebrate Democracy Day, we reflect on the values of freedom, justice, and equality that underpin our society.

“Your dedication to upholding these values through transparent governance, inclusive policies, and community-driven initiatives is commendable and inspiring,” it praised Kefas.

According to the statement, under Governor Kefas’s stewardship, Taraba State has witnessed remarkable achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development. 

Additionally, the statement noted that Kefas’s vision for a prosperous and harmonious state has galvanized efforts toward sustainable development and improved the quality of life for all citizens.

“On this day, we honor not only the spirit of democracy but also visionary leaders like you who work tirelessly to ensure that democracy thrives in our beloved state. 

“May your tenure continue to bring peace, prosperity, and progress to Taraba State, and may your leadership serve as a model for democratic governance across Nigeria,” it prayed for the Governor.

The Concerned Citizens of the North East (CCNE) has extended its warm congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on his first anniversary in office. 

This milestone marks a significant point in Nigeria’s democratic journey, and the CCNE commends the President for his leadership thus far.

In a statement issued by Lawrence Bilal Audu, Director of Corporate Communications, the CCNE urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to intensify efforts in addressing the pressing issues of bad governance in local government areas.
