Insecurity: NAF Trains 7,000 Regiments, Special Forces

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has trained 7,000 regiments and Special Forces to combat security challenges in the country.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao stated this at the graduation ceremony of the 112 special Forces of Course 10/2022 on Friday in Bauchi.

He said NAF reiterated its commitment by boosting the strength of regiment and special operations forces personnel through “purposeful training and human capacity development”.

“In pursuit of my vision. In that regard, the Nigerian Air Force has so far trained about 5,000 Regiment and 2,000 Special Operation Forces personnel, both at home and abroad,” Amao said.

He said NAF has grown to be a formidable force with enhanced professionalism due to regular training, acquisition of new platforms and reactivation of grounded fleets.

The CAS , represented by Air Vice Marshal Auwal Bello, Chief of training and Operations NAF headquarters said Air Force has made concerted efforts to build its own internal capacity and resilience for force protection.

He urged the graduating Special Forces to be courageous and take the battle to all the adversaries of the country.

“Be they terrorists, insurgents or any other criminal elements, in synergy with our Sister Services and other security agencies.

“I therefore urge you to bring to effectively utilize the knowledge and experience gained during the Course whenever and wherever duty calls.

“This will require you to exhibit courage, commitment and loyalty in the discharge of your duties.

“I also enjoin you all to redouble your efforts and engage the security challenges with rugged optimism and renewed determination,

The Chief of Staff also urged them to remain professional in the discharge of their constitutional duty of ensuring the security of beloved good people and the country.

Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Ibukunle Daramola, Air Officer Commanding, AOC Ground Training Command explained that Special Forces operations are characterized by speed, precision, destabilizing shock effects and perseverance of forces.

“The curriculum of this course entailed weapon handling, swimming, unarmed combat, small team tactics, amongst other focused areas,” he said

He appreciated the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Amao for his commitment to ensuring that the pursuit of purposeful training and human capacity development is achieved.

Daramola assured that the Ground Training Command remains resolute in ensuring qualitative training so as to have the best in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

Our reports that out of 281 personnel nominated, 149 trainees were found physically and medically fit, only 112 graduated to qualify as Special Forces operatives also known as Nigerian Air Force Panthers.

TSHA Member, Sarki Renovates, Commissions VGN Ward Office In Jalingo

The member representing Jalingo I in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki has reiterated his commitment to contributing his quota in providing adequate security in his Constituency.

He stated this on Monday 3/6/2024 during the commissioning ceremony of a renovated outpost of the VGN at Turaki ‘A’ Ward in Jalingo.

Sarki said he renovated the VGN Ward office with the view to encourage members of the group to continue with their good job of assisting the police and other security agencies in protecting the lives and property of the citizens.

Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki commended members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Taraba State for their selfless service to humanity and urged them not to relent to continue supporting in combating crimes across the state.

Responding, the Jalingo LG VGN Commander, Munir Bello Abubakar described the gesture by the legislator as a morale booster for their members to redouble their commitment to duty.

Munir Bello Abubakar, who is also the North-east VGN’s Zonal Deputy Commander of Administration, called on wealthy individuals and other politicians to emulate Hon. Umar Adamu Sarki by supporting VGN in the state.

He reaffirmed their resolve to continue supporting security agencies in combating crimes in society at all levels in Taraba State.

Boko Haram Commander, Five Fighters Surrender To MNJTF

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of Operation Lake Sanity II has announced the surrender of Adamu Muhammad, Boko Haram terrorist commander, and 5 other fighters to Sector 3 MNJTF in Monguno, Borno State Nigeria on Thursday. 

In a statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer N’djamena-Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi to journalists in Maiduguri on Friday noting that it has intensified its operations against the terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region.

He said the terrorists escaped from the ISWAP faction hideout in Jubillaram, situated in Southern Lake Chad. 

“Adamu, 22 years old, had participated in numerous terrorist attacks and roamed around Kangarwa, Alagarno, Doro Naira, and Dogon Chikwu in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State, Nigeria.

“During their surrender, they handed over 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one warhead of anti-aircraft rounds.

“Other surrendered fighters include;  Isah Ali, 18 years old; Hassan Modu, 18 years old; Nasir Idris, 23 years old escort for the Commander of Jubillaram Usman Rash; Abba Aji, 21 years old and
Abubakar Isah, 20 years old.”Lt Col Abdullahi said.

He added that the surrendered fighters are currently undergoing investigation.

He said this brings the total number of terrorists who have surrendered since the commencement of Operation Lake Sanity ll on 23 April 2024 to 119.

The MNJTF appeals to other terrorists to follow suit, lay down their arms, and embrace peace. We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region.

VGN Rescue 3 Kidnapped Victims, Arrest Suspects In Taraba

The Taraba State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims. 

The Command’s VPRO, Suleiman Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement released to newsmen in Jalingo. 

The victims were rescued when the Special Tactical Squad of the VGN invaded the kidnappers’ camps at Kachalla mountain in the Lau LGA of the state following a tip-off. 

The rescued victims are Alhaji Dankawu, 60 years old, a 13-year-old named Haruna Shagari, and Alhaji Isa, 67 years old. 

Alhaji Dankawu was kidnapped at Garin Dogo, Haruna Shagari at Yolde Kindang, and Alhaji Isa at Lushi village. One of the victims, Haruna Shagari, has been reunited with his family.

During the operation, the Command arrested two of the suspected kidnappers, Sale Manu and Manu Siddiki, who confessed to the crime without torture. 

In a video clip, Sale Manu specifically stated that they own five (5) AK47 rifles for operations and listed other gang members who are currently on the run.

The VGN Commander, Munir Bello Abubakar, who is the North-east VGN’s Zonal Deputy Commander of Administration, revealed that they had destroyed the kidnappers’ camps at Kachalla mountain in the Lau LGA of the State on May 12th, 2024. 

Additionally, an informant named Murtala Santi, who lives in Minda along the Kona-Lau road, was also arrested by members of the VGN. 

Commander Munir Bello Abubakar reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting security agencies in combating crimes across the state.
