PDP Showcasing The Work, Others Exchanging Words In Adamawa – Dan Kwai

Spread the love

By Adamu Muhammad Dodo

I’ve not met him for a long time. He has however been registering his condolences commiserating with me over the loss of my family members via telephone conversation and text messages.

The last time we met was in April this year, following the death of my beloved wife. It was a painful death indeed, he would acknowledge that he had to suspend every engagement to pay a condolence visit.

My lovely wife, now late, attended the same high school – GGSS Yola – with his beloved wife who knew me as a volunteer literature teacher who also introduced government as a subject in the school sometimes in the year 2000, after having served the nation through the NYSC and was back home for the next line of academic action, while also running a programme called “OUR CONSTITUTION” with ATV Yola as a producer.

A tap on my shoulder, turning back, it was Alhaji Haladu Mohammed, a.k.a Dan Kwai, a holder of Sardaunan Jimeta traditional title. We exchanged pleasantries. Suddenly, empathy betrayed his emotion expressed in his face, though he wore spectacle.

“Noi beddaari munyal derdam?” He would ask in fulfulde language, over the irreparable loss, he would encourage me to keep being strong, remain faithful and move on to the direction that fate decided.

I thanked him for the concern, for being with me in one of the most trying times, asking about the kids and praying for their late mother abode in Jannatul Firdaus.

I commended his patience and political maturity, submitting to fate; surrendering a consensual call to step down from his representational aspiration, not due to the capacity but political arrangement, after having spent fortune in the campaign prior to the party primaries.

While other aspirants in the party felt disappointed and betrayed by, have disengaged themselves from lending support to the governorship candidate, Sardaunan Jimeta would say that it’s all about the party rather than an individual, keying to the philosophy of politics without bitterness.

Dan Kwai pointed out that what fortune spent would not give life to the dead, which is the most precious and a priceless loss for which I humbly accepted the demise of my wife in good faith, the same way, power belongs only to Allah the Most High that no mortal could give or deny anyone thereof. There’s no cause therefore to be angry about a disappointment, which as an end in itself, is a blessing After all, there’s fun in playing politics without bitterness, without bickering.

“Are you back or just going to Abuja?” I asked.

“Whichever, whatever and however you take it brother but depending on the context,” he responded rather politely.

Haladu was among the 871 inaugurated members of the PDP presidential and governorship campaign council in Adamawa state, ahead of the 2023 general elections. There’s no better time to be in the state than now but he also has his investment to supervise and contacts to make outside of the state, hence he’d be on an off for now, he would say.

“The task is to retain the governorship position in the state and to reclaim the presidency, you can be rest assured that this would be an accomplished mission,” Sardaunan Jimeta would say.

I asked him of the possibility of going to the poll without the APC governorship candidate; the major opposition political party and the most popular candidate.

Dan Kwai said he was not interested in political party gossip. He’s no more in APC, hence it’s theirs to sort out.

“I’m not fanatical a football fan, but you can be sure that red card only disqualifies erring footballers, it doesn’t take away the entertainment from the game. There’s also the question of workover.

“However, it would be more interesting playing the game with a rather strong opposition in the field. The bottomline is what achievements and what task ahead a candidate or his party could convincingly present before the electorates.

“We do not have such constraints as a PDP, the records of performance are made public. It is now promoting us as a party.

“Even the national government that is led by the APC has acknowledged the face-lift in terms of infrastructural development Adamawa state is witnessing more than in the previous governments.

“Hospitals that were moribund are now merry-bound. The free edition promised is open to the public, not to stress the prying eyes. Children from economically disadvantaged families in the state are now having access to education.

While as a family, the PDP is strategically showcasing the work talked about, others are busy stressing themselves exchanging words. That’s the current electioneering atmosphere in Adamawa state.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg. At the moment, the mission is the journey to Abuja. I hope The Periscope Global can give me a space to be detailed one of these days. Once more, be patient, prayerful and remain strong,” Haladu said when it was about time to fly in the air.

One Year Of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Security And Defense Policy Costodians

By Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu

The Minister for Defense Alh. Badaru Abubakar fits this adage. During his tenure as the Executive Governor of Jigawa State and the Chief Security Officer, his domain witnessed and enjoyed maximum peace, security and adjoining growth.

This experience he brought to bear as the Minister for Defense. At the State level he coordinated all security organs, harmonized them, gave each organ the terms of reference of Operations while webbing them all together as a unit for the desired results. There were no overlapping references but overlapping corporation and coordination.

“You can only give what you have” is what Alh Badaru Abubakar is exuding within the Ministry of Defense.
Presentation Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the right choice of “the right peg in the right hole”. The Minister Mr. Badaru Abubakar in return reciprocated by coordinating the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs (Land, Air and Sea) and not leaving behind the Minister of State Defence Alh Bello Matawalle with the respective roles to play so as to achieve the results that our sovereign nation is witnessing today.

One cannot shy away from mentioning some oversight responsibilities that have seen either tremendous achievements, overhaul or complete make-over to be in tandem with world best practices.

To mention just a few that have gone through any of the above are:
1, Defense Industries Corporation (DICON)Kaduna.

2, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji.

3, The Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna.

4, National Defense College, Abuja.

5, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Center Oshodi.

6, Defense Health Maintenance Abuja.

7, Defense Intelligence Agency Abuja.

8, Defense Space Administration, Abuja.

9, National Hydrographic Agency.
To mention just a few.

In return, the resultant consequences to the tenacious oversight functions, the following results were achieved:

(A), Special Operations Force was empowered, improved and expanded.

(B), Policy Framework on reducing dependency on foreign equipment and developing local content and adaptable technology was achieved.

(C,) Welfare of personnel at all strata both at the Frontline and home base was improved, hence boosting the morale of officers.

(D), Capacity building of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the point where other Foreign Forces are eager and seeking collaboration with ours.

(E).General Stability in the Ecowas sub region to a point where insurgency is gainfully contained.

(F), Nigeria’s territorial waters and the protection of Nigeria’s oil installations On and Off shore has been a positive impact on security when it comes to piracy, improved drilling/ production and accountability of crude oil.

(G), Electronic Content management system is being developed and deployed for effective content and personnel management, which will help in the implementation of personnel performance records and promote accountability, promotion and career satisfaction in public service.

(H), Arsenal, equipment and training cuts across the Army, Navy and Air Force.

(I)Armed forces Veterans Welfare have been taken seriously by the Honorable Minister Badaru Abubakar first he started with a meeting with the leadership of various bodies afterwards two Ministerial Committee’s were set up to look into the Welfare and well-being of the Retired Military Veterans.

This is not a medium to list all, it would be counter productive to do so. However, we are witnessing the achievements so far.
To mention just a few.

The ” Defense” business can and should not be seen as an ‘ instant coffee” affair. Good healthy coffee comes from carefully selected coffee beans from an optimum climatic producing zone, roasted, ground and percolated….it’s a long process, but the best is got. Alh Badaru Abubakar personifies just that and with a support of a “Formidable” team.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not make a mistake to make him Team Leader.
This is “Renewed Hope” in it’s purest form, achievement and Glory.

The Essence Of Political Loyalty: A Pathway To Development

Spread the love

By Usman Abdullahi Koli, ANIPR

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This proverb aptly captures the essence of political loyalty and its potential to foster development. Democracy has granted citizens the freedom to express themselves and share their opinions regarding the activities of the government and its leaders. Such freedoms are not only for citizens but for leaders as well, who are entitled to enjoy these rights. Therefore, there is nothing wrong if a leader supports another leader whom he regards as his political role model.

Recently, the Speaker of the Bauchi State Assembly expressed his loyalty to the State Governor, a gesture that is both normal and beneficial. The mutual understanding between the legislative and executive arms of government will result in significant developments for the masses. If these arms are antagonistic towards each other, progress would be impeded. People and leaders should be allowed to express their minds and appreciate whoever they like, as long as it doesn’t prevent them from fulfilling their official responsibilities.

Honorable Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, despite being a leader in the State House of Assembly, has consistently delivered on the mandates he swore to uphold. The Speaker is gradually fulfilling the promises made during his political campaigns, with the people in his constituency attesting to this through the immense benefits they receive. His loyalty to the state’s foremost citizen, who shares the same political party, translates to driving developmental projects to his people. Ningi and its environs enjoy power and water supply, access to qualified health practitioners, standard schools, and a host of other amenities.

Being from the constituency of the Speaker, I can personally testify to the positive impact of his leadership. The improvements in infrastructure and public services have significantly enhanced the quality of life for residents. The alignment between the Speaker and the Governor has resulted in a seamless execution of policies and projects that cater to the needs of the populace.

Moreover, the collaborative relationship between the legislative and executive branches fosters a stable and progressive political environment. This unity not only accelerates development but also strengthens the trust and confidence of the citizens in their leaders. As a citizen of this state, it is reassuring to see our representatives working in harmony to achieve common goals that benefit us all.

The Speaker’s commitment to his constituents extends beyond infrastructure. He has initiated various social programs aimed at empowering youth and women, providing scholarships, and supporting small businesses. These initiatives not only improve the socio-economic status of the people but also create opportunities for sustainable development. His actions demonstrate that political loyalty, when aligned with public service, can be a powerful tool for transformative change.

Furthermore, the Speaker’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability have set a high standard for governance. His dedication to open communication with his constituents ensures that their voices are heard and their needs addressed. This approach not only builds a stronger community but also reinforces the democratic values upon which our society is built.
