NEDC Distributes Starter Packs To 150 Trained Automobile Technicians

The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has trained 150 Automobile Technicians in the northeast on Digital Vehicular Diagnostics and Maintenance and presented them with starter packs.

The training organised in collaboration with Digital Bridge Institute has beneficiaries carefully selected from the six states of the northeast; Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe Taraba, and Yobe.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at Digital Bridge Institute Yola, the Managing Director of the NEDC, Alh. Muhammad Goni Alkali reiterates the commission’s commitment to ensuring that youths are provided job opportunities in the Northeast.

Goni Alkali appealed to the trainees not to sell the equipment and facilities presented to them by the commission but make good use of them to enable them be self reliant.

The Managing Director said Digital Bridge Institute has a modern facilities of international standard which encouraged the NEDC to support and collaborate with the Institute to make it functional.

He said about 10 more technological centres in Adamawa will be supported by the commission to boost their activities.

The Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Mal. Bashiru Ahmad challenged youths to avoid restiveness and involve themselves into entrepreneurship and vocational education.

Represented by the Hon. Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Iliya James, Ahmad said the state government is ready to work with any organization that will take the state to greater heights.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Bridge Institute Yola, Prof. Muhammad Ajiya commended the NEDC for its foresight in organizing the training which he described as timely.

He called on state governments in the northeast to support such a programme to reduce joblessness among the youths.

In his keynote address, the chief instructor Engr. Salihu, challenged the trainees to share the knowledge obtained during the training with their colleagues.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hussani Musa from Borno state and Musa Muhammad Bello from Bauchi state, pledged to make proper utilisation of the knowledge and facilities presented to them.

Highlights of the event were presentation of certificates, starter packs to the beneficiaries and trophy to those that emerged victorious at the football competition organized by the commission.

Sen. Buba Presents N19m Toolboxes To Solar Installations Trainees In Bauchi

Sen. Shehu Buba, member representing Bauchi South at the senate has presented starter kits worth N19 million to 100 beneficiaries of his solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance training in Bauchi.

Speaking at the end of the 4-day training and distribution of starter kits to the beneficiaries, Mr Mohammed Gwaza, one of the training Coordinators, said that the trainees were selected from the seven Local Government Areas that make up Bauchi South Senatorial District.

According to him, each toolbox presented to the beneficiaries is estimated at N190,000.

The 4-day training which commenced on Thursday, ended on Sunday with a tour to the Solar panels farm at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi permanent campus.

The participants were taken through the various procedures and processes of solar power system installations and maintenance by engineers and other experts in the field.

The participants were also taken through various areas of the system by officials from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) for the purposes of certification to make them certified skilled individuals.

One of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Shua’ibu from Toro Local Government, recounted that when he filled the form for the training two months ago, he didn’t believe it would come to fruition especially when he had waited for a month without hearing about it.

However, he said he was surprised when he received a call two weeks ago that the training would be held but still didn’t believe it until he entered the venue of the training.

According to him, he would not sell the starter kit given to him, rather, he would go and set up a small shop where he would train his younger ones and his friends, adding that the knowledge he gathered during the training would be stepped down to the people of his community.

He lauded the senator for the kind gesture and called on other politicians to emulate him.

“We were lodged in this Zaranda Hotel for the four days training, we were also fed and we were also given a token apart from our starter kits. May God uplift the senator to any heights he so much desires,” he prayed.

Bauchi Urban Water Corporation Pledges No Disruption In Water Supply

The new Board Chairman of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation, Yayanuwa Sarki Zainabari on Thursday said the ultimate goal of the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is to serve the people of the state by ensuring that every household has access to clean and safe water.

In his acceptance speech shortly after the inauguration of the new Board of the corporation by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulrazaq Nuhu Zaki, Zainabari acknowledged that with the guidance of the governor, the corporation has witnessed a remarkable transformation in the provision of safe and constant water supply.

He noted that Governor Bala Mohammed administration’s huge investment in the water sector has been instrumental in improving the lives of the people as his continued support and belief in the corporation have paved the way for numerous initiatives and infrastructure projects that have greatly enhanced its capabilities.

“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON [KAURAN BAUCHI], The Executive Governor of Bauchi State Governor alongside other personalities for entrusting us with this crucial role. His Excellency’s faith in my abilities is both humbling and inspiring. I am fully aware of the immense responsibility that comes with this position, and I pledge to work tirelessly to justify your confidence in me.

“I want to also extend my appreciation to the Ministry of Water Resources headed by a seasoned politician, Hon. Abdulrazaq Nuhu Zaki for the relentless efforts in ensuring the provision of safe and reliable water services to our citizens. Our collaboration with the ministry will be vital in achieving our objectives and addressing the challenges facing our water sector.”

The Board chairman said his team will work with relevant stakeholders in the water sector in a bid to ensuring no disruption in water supply as they will remain focused, proactive, and innovative in their approaches to achieve the desired objectives.

Zainabari used the medium to applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his recent public apology on the current challenges in the water supply which shows that he is a leader for his people, and commended his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of water sector in the state.

On his part, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulrazaq Nuhu Zaki, congratulated the inaugurated board members and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Bauchi Gov To Implement New Measures For The Sanitization Of Mining Operations In The State

The Bauchi State government has reaffirmed its commitment to sanitizing the operations of all mining companies within the state, aiming to ensure compliance with established guidelines and boost revenue generation.

Speaking during an official visit to various mining sites across several local government areas, the Commissioner of Natural Resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, emphasized the administration’s resolve to implement stringent measures to curb illegal mining activities and enhance revenue streams.

“We are introducing innovative approaches to tackle illegal mining operations and streamline activities, with the ultimate goal of enhancing our state’s internal revenue,” stated Commissioner Bello.

He stressed the necessity for every mining company to collaborate closely with the Ministry, adhere to provided protocols, and operate within the framework of Community Development Agreements (CDAs) for the mutual benefit of host communities and the state as a whole.

Commissioner Bello underscored the importance for miners to be well-versed in terms of their mining licenses, spanning federal, state, and local government levels, to ensure seamless operations.

Engaging with community leaders during the visit, Commissioner Bello urged them to forge strong partnerships with local government chairpersons to address any challenges arising from mining activities effectively.

“Let us collaborate with your respective chairpersons, identify issues, and resolve them amicably for the collective good,” Commissioner Bello urged community leaders.

In response, local government representatives, including Shira’s Babangida Ishaq Maliya and Jama’are’s Deputy Chairman, Sabo Saleh, commended the Commissioner for the proactive visit and pledged unwavering support towards achieving outstanding results.

The local government areas visited by the Hon. Commissioner during the tour encompassed Darazo, Misau, Shira, and Jama’are and was accompanied by caretaker chairman of Shira LGA, Majority leader of state house of assembly, chairman house Committee on mining, deputy chairmen of Darazo & Misau LGAs and MD Bamsel among others.
