NPFL 2022 SEASON: Wikki Tourists FC Defeats Akwa United 2-0

Two first-half goals from Taiye Murtala and Prince John in the 8th and 27th minutes were enough to give Wikki Tourists FC a convincing victory over Akwa United on Matchday 36 of the #npfl22 Season match number 356 in Bauchi, Bauchi State.

WTFC Media reports that the two goals were recorded as a result of frantic efforts by the Kaura boys to ensure they move upward on the table ladder as the league gradually is coming to an end with most clubs trying to avoid making mistakes.

Taiye Murtala scored the first goal for the home team when he headed from a free-kick by Sunday Haruna.

The opening goal became a morale booster for his teammates who kept mounting pressure on the visitor and their efforts paid off in the 27th minute when Prince John capitalized on an assist by Fu’ad Ekelejuoti to comfortably put Wikki on the driving seat till the end of the first half.

The second half was more or less a dull game as both teams played cautiously.

The substitution was made by both teams right from the first half, while the result of the game remain the same with Wikki Tourists maintaining the 2-0 lead to the close of the game at 90’+3′.

In a post Match Interview, WIkki Tourists Chief Coach, Abdullahi Adamu said the three points were what they prayed for and expressed gratitude to God for answering their prayers.

He gave kudos to his players for putting in a dogged fight and ensured that they came out victorious.

Asked about their next match in makurdi, the Coach said, “We are fully aware that the Match in makurdi will be a tough one but as usual we are fully ready and Inshaa Allah we will come out Victorious,” Adamu was optimistic.

Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists has moved to the tenth position on the log 49points from the twelve it occupied before the game.

The Kaduna State Media Cooperation (KSMC) Headquarters has resumed sporting activities following the departure of Ibrahim Ismaila Ahmad as the Managing Director. 

The staff of the organization expressed their delight with the return of sports activities which had been absent for nearly eight years since Ahmad’s appointment by the former Governor, Nasiru El-rufa’i. 

During the closing hours, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, KSMC staff members have always had leisure time. 

Sports enthusiasts within the organization, as well as their colleagues, and friends outside, utilized this time to unwind and have fun after a hard day’s work. 

The return of sporting activities at KSMC’s Headquarters has resulted in many staff members reminiscing about the good old days before Ibrahim Isma’ila Ahmad’s tenure as the Managing Director/CEO.

In the meantime, the State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani has approved the appointment of Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Managing Director/CEO of the organization. 

Maiyaki is was the former spokesperson of former Governor of the State under PDP, Alhaji Ramalan Yero, Dallatu ln Zazzau. 

He later moved to APC before the 2019 general elections.

We’re Deploying Resources To Boost Sports Industry In Adamawa – Govt

The Adamawa state government says it is expending resources, time and energy to boost sports and administrative skill in the sports industry.

It is against this backdrop, the state in collaboration with National Institute for Sports, Lagos is hosting a 5-Day Capacity Training Workshop for coaches, sport administrators, game masters and physical and health education teachers in the state.

Inaugurating the training Tuesday at General Murtala Mohammed College Yola, the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, said government is coordinating the capacity building training in view of its significance to the heart of the present administration.

Farauta urged the participants to step down knowledge acquired to discover young talents at the grassroots and reinvigorate youth energy in the sector.

“Our hope is to ensure that the state benefits from the workshop, because we have put resources time and energy in sports.

“Government is solemly behind the sporting industry in the state. I hoped the 5-day training would not be a waste,” she said.

Professor Olawole Moronkola, Chief Executive Officer National Institute of sport lagos, stated that the training is targeted at improving officiating skills of the participants aimed at revamping the sport sector.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Barrister Wali Yakubu, urged the participants to take advantage of the training to compete with their counterparts

Wikki FC Fans Have Fear For The Club To Remain Relegated

Wikki Tourists Football Club fans in Bauchi State have started to express fear for the club to remain relegated at the end of the 2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) season amid lack of sport administrator as Chairman of the club

Wikki Tourists suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nasarawa United last Saturday in Lafiya marking their loss at the season to 2nd position with 23 points from twelve matches.

Some fans are starting to worry that the club could be in danger of dropping down to the NNL Championship.

Adamu Saidu Wikki FC Fan said, As it stands, if Wikki Tourists lose in their next match with Yobe Desert, that could be in the relegation zone

Because the club needs sports administrators who would run the club effectively, get it out of relegation and triumph to the premier league.

“We need someone who knows Sports, speaks sports and coordinates sports urging the State government to look into the administration of Wikki Tourists management,” he said.

Another Sports Enthusiast James Bawa the management of Wikki need to take drastic steps or else they will remain relegated for ever.

The state government is trying but the management needs to work hard to meet up in their next matches.

“But should they not pick up a point in the next games Wikki would incredibly find themselves in the bottom three.

The Chairman of the Club Mr Auwal Gotal in his recent press briefing has hinted that it could take a while to turn things around.

“I didn’t expect to solve everything in one day. You have to have more aggression in your game, more speed and more competitive duels which go your way.

He commended the government for the support and funding of the club.
