Again, Fintiri Nominated To Receive Gov-Of-The-Year Award

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has been nominated to receive the Blueprint Governor of the year award in June, twenty twenty two.

This was made known when the editorial board of the national daily presented him nomination letter in the Government House Yola, Monday.

Speaking at the event, the chairperson and editor in Chief of the newspaper, Hajiya Zainab Suleiman Okino said the Governor’s nomination was based on merit.

She added that after a careful selection process, the editorial board has found him worthy of the award owing to his style of leadership and good governance.

The editor in Chief commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for transforming the state particularly in the area of infrastructure among other sectors.

Governor Umaru Fintiri who accepted the nomination with appreciation, lauded the Blueprint Newspaper for considering him for the award .

The Governor said the recognition will no doubt spur him to continue to do more for the people by commiting efforts and resources for the state to forge ahead.

He described the Blueprint as a reliable paper and pledged that Adamawa government will continue to partner with it in the area of information dissemination.

It could be recalled that Governor Umaru Fintiri has among others received award of twenty nineteen Leadership Governor of the Year by the Leadership Company Limited, publishers of Leadership Newspapers.

FG Says Lottery Fund’s Health, Education, Sports Interventions Touching Lives

The Federal Government has noted with delight the National Lottery Trust Fund’s (NLTF) Health, Sports and Education intervention programmes, describing them as monumental.

Mrs Ibiene Roberts, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, who gave the commendation, said the programmes were impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.

Roberts was on a familiarisation visit to the NLTF, on Monday in Abuja.

According to the permanent secretary, government is very impressive with the fund’s performance and interventions, which are touching the lives of many Nigerians.

”I am aware of your wonderful achievements when I assumed duty in the ministry, truly, the National Lottery Trust Fund has touched the lives of Nigerians.

“The impact you are making, in terms of these good causes, is quite phenomenal because Nigerians are gaining a lot.

“We want you to continue with this laudable and encouraging services to Nigerians, and also to ensure all these projects are effectively monitored regularly,” Roberts said.

She expressed confidence over the NLTF’S ability to drive more interventions, particularly in the health and education sectors, noting that the two sectors were very critical and important for national development.

She appealed to all agencies and parastatals under the ministry, to ensure synergy in their operations for effective service delivery.

”Please keep up the good works you are doing ,we highly appreciate and commend you, and we want you to continue to do more for the betterment of Nigerians,” she said.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Bello Maigari, the Executive Secretary, NLTF, thanked the permanent secretary for the recognition and commendation.

Maigari explained that the agency’s intervention was generally targeted at sectors that would bring succour to ordinary Nigerians.

“I am happy to inform you that as an interventionist agency, we have done a lot in the areas of health, education and sports.

“It is on record that on daily basis, the agency is receiving commendations and appreciations from different people and communities all over Nigeria.

“I will like to appeal to the permanent secretary to see how the agency’s budget provision will be expanded to carter for more Nigerians,” Maigari said.

According to the executive secretary, the intention of the agency is to intervene in every state of the federation and possibly, every local government area across the country.

“Our intention is to make sure our impact is felt across Nigeria, so that at the end, people would begin to realise the importance of lottery and gaming activities,” he added.

Adamawa Govt Moves To Provide Temporary Bridge At Wuro Ngayadi

Work on the temporary palliative at the collapsed site of Wuro Ngayadi bridge in Madagali local government area sponsored by the Adamawa state government has since commenced in earnest to provide connectivity to the people.

This came barely days, after the collapse of the drift erected by the federal government contractor handling the Wuro Ngayadi bridge contract and the subsequent directive by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in that regard.

The Secretary to the State government, SSG, Malam Bashiru Ahmad who was on an inspection visit to the bridge at the instance of the governor noted with satisfaction on the readiness of the contractor to executing the project.

Ahmad in an interview with newsmen, assured the Madagali and Michika communities that government is determined to complete the work in earnest so as cushion their hardships before actual execution of the project by the federal government.

He said “two days after the executive Governor received the information that the drift has been washed off even being outside the state capital, he was able to instruct that the contractor should come and inspect the site.”

He described the temporary bridge as a simple elevation using stones and drains provided for water to pass through ring culverts with concrete cast on top to enable motorists and passers-by to ply and cross the river.

On the failure of federal government to execute the project as and when due, the SSG expressed dismay that the work that should be completed in one year has taken several years without any tangible effort of making it a reality.

The Wuro Ngayadi bridge which was among others destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents has been under construction for seven years now, since after awarding the contract by the federal government.

The SSG was also in Shuwa town in Madagali local government area where he inspected the renovated washed away section of a bridge in the area by flood and commended the contractor for a job weldone.

On his part, Mr Adamu Ularamu of G and Group Construction Company who handles the contract said his firm has commenced the work last week and intend to complete it in the one month.

He promised to keep to the time frame in the contractual agreement and according to specification, calling on the people especially motorists to give them maximum cooperation.

FG To Train 4,786 Beneficiaries On NISP Programmes In Adamawa

As part of its strategy to addressing unemployment and hunger in the country,the Federal government has flag-off of the grant for vulnerable group and digitalized payment for conditional cash transfer in Adamawa state.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs,Disaster management and social development,Hajiya Sa’adiya Umar Faruq disclosed at the inauguration of the programme in Yola that the exercise was an e-consolidation of the National Social Investment Programme(NSIP) designed by government to give a lighting hand to poorest and vulnerable citizens in the country.

Hajiya Sa’adiya with the implementation of the economic supporting program,the federal government has recorded tremendous successes in poverty reduction and enhancing social inclusion among Nigerian especially the less privileged ones.

She said the grant for vulnerable groups program (GVG) was introduced in 2020 to sustain the social inclusion agenda of President Buhari’s administration for improved productivity and their commercial activities which ease poverty in the land.

She stated that the target in Adamawa is to cover 4,786 beneficiaries across the 21 local government areas and 70% of the beneficiaries will be women while remaining 30% for the youths in the state.

According to her, additional 67 beneficiaries to be train as independent monitors on its second steam National Social Investment program (NSIP) “On -Boarding of independent Monitors”noting that the federal government is on track to lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

Earlier in his keynote address,Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed gratitude to the federal government for the efforts put in place to alleviate Nigerians out of poverty.

Represented by the secretary to the state government at the occasion.Mallam Bashiru Ahmad,Fintiri stated the readiness of his government to partner all concerned agencies and donors to improve the state in all sectors.
