The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Sokoya disclosed this through the PPRO of the Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi in an interview with our reporter in Jalingo.

DSP Usman Abdullahi explained that already CP Abimbola Sokoya had sent the anti-bomb unit who are working round the clock to ensure that there are no remnants of the explosive, while the men of the State Investigation Bureau (SIB) are now going on intelligent aimed at unraveling sources behind the attack.

“As you know yesterday we recovered three corpses who were killed as a result of the explosion at Iware and almost nineteen persons injured who are currently receiving treatment at the FMC Jalingo, while later on, we got another woman who was also a victim of the explosion who later died while receiving treatment,

“so now the number has risen to six out of which five identified corpses have been claimed by their relatives while no claim to the one that is suspected to be one of the suspected bombers. The CP is preparing to visit the scene after which we will compile our report and submit it.” The PPRO revealed.

DSP Usman Abdullahi advised the general public to be calm and go about their normal businesses as the command has taken over the situation, as well as urged them to shun rumor-mongering, and posting of fake news on social media, and to be security conscious.

However, an eyewitness to the sad incident that pleaded anonymity said the bomb exploded at around four clock on Tuesday evening, and according to him about eleven people have feared dead while many sustained injuries.

The source noted that a teenager who is suspected to have detonated the Explosive device has been killed by the angry residents.

The incident happened at a local beer parlor close to Iware cattle market which is one of the economic hub zones in Ardokola Local Government Area of Taraba state that comes up every Tuesday about 30 kilometers away from Jalingo, the capital city.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini (MP), has on Wednesday during a plenary session condemned in strong terms the bomb blast and described the act by the faceless people as bestial and inhuman, because the State has enjoyed relative peace.

He decried that the disdainful and dastardly act by the miscreants came at a time when the State Government has been doing everything humanly possible for peace to reign in the State and to ensure the security of the lives and property of the people.

The Taraba state police command has debunked claims of an improvised Explosive device explosion that has led to the deaths of three children in Didango Geita village of Karim Lamido local government area of the state, contrary to the claims of some of the villagers.

The State commissioner of police, David Iloyonomon while refuting the claims asserted that the three children who died were playing with a Dane gun on a tree, whose gunpowder later exploded and killed them.

According to him, the four other children playing under the tree were injured with one fatally affected and receiving treatment at the state’s specialists hospital located in Jalingo, the state capital.

The incident took place on Saturday when the CP said ”One Danjuma Audu gave the information to the police that there was an explosion which resulted in the deaths of three youngsters and the injury of four others.

”On the receipt of the information, we deployed the anti-bomb unit of the Nigeria Police Force who rushed to the scene conducted a professional and thorough search, and discovered that no exhibit is related to dynamite or IED recovered from the scene.

”Instead, they recovered pallets from a Dane gun which was evident in the bodies of the casualties and suspected to be responsible for their deaths. “Since there was no assailant, it is suspected to be an accidental discharge,” said CP.

The commissioner of police further revealed that the scene of the incident has been condoned and investigation is still ongoing to unravel more facts.

The police commissioner identified the three deceased children as Miracle Danjuma 11 years old, Liyacheyan Bitrus 12 years old, and Kefas Bitrus 11 years old, with the first casualty Miracle Danjuma the son of the man who reported the incident.

Others that sustained varying degrees of injuries include Joseph Danjuma 8 years old,  Leah Aluda 8 years old, Godbless Hassan 7 years old, Christian Hassan 7 years old who happen to be the grandchildren of Danjuma Audu, the owner of an irrigation rice farm whom the children followed to assist in the farm.
