Kashimbila Hydropower Plant: Aku Uka Of Wukari Commends President Buhari

Ahead of official commissioning, on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 Wukari town, a local council in Taraba State was agog with excitement where both old and young, males and females were sighted jubilating as it was lighted with the long-awaited Kashimbila Hydropower Plant.

Our Correspondent reports that the power sub-station is situated in the local government area.

Meanwhile, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to Aku Ukaon Media, Jolly Agbu Masa-Ibi said His Majesty, Aku Uka, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, Amatakhitswen appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for the completion of the electricity project.

The statement reads in parts: The Project which started during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has been a long-awaited dream for Tarabans who wanted an electricity source that will cater to the needs of the people and be reliable.

“Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, who was then Minister for Power, contributed immensely to the realization of the project and is greatly commended by His Majesty for his passion for his home state.

“As Governor, his commitment to the project saw his several visits to the site and close monitoring of the work at its various stages.

“Aku also expressed appreciation for the siting of the power sub-station in Wukari.

“As a way of reciprocating the gesture of the government, His Majesty appeals to all and sundry to safeguard electricity equipment/properties around them and to help in conserving energy by using only what they need.” The statement stressed.

Aku, however, urged the people of the area to comply with prompt payment of bills to help in the smooth operation of the provider.

He further appealed to the government to extend electricity to the nooks and crannies of the communities to avail this important social amenity to its citizens.

Adamawa Govt Approves 42km NYSC Camp – Borong Road Project

The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved reconstruction of 42km road stretching from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Damare to Borong community.

The feeder road project which covers the 2 LGAs of Girei and Demsa will cost over N836m.

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the council meeting that held in the Government House, Yola.

Dr Pella said the project was awarded to Hydro Source and Resource Nigeria Limited and has the completion of period of 12 Months.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the council has approved over N117m variation for the construction of modern laboratory at Specialist Hospital, Yola.

Pella explained that the project was initially awarded at over N578m adding that the variation was to cover the cost of increased price of building materials.

The Wednesday’s 8th 2023 Council Meeting was presided over by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

NYSC Remains Beacon Of Hope For Prosperous Nation – Gov. Mohammed

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state on Tuesday, says that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) remained a beacon of hope in the country’s mission for a united and prosperous nation.

Mohammed stated this on Tuesday during the swearing in ceremony of the 2023 Batch “C” stream II corps members posted to the state at the state permanent orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

Represented by his Deputy Alh. Auwal Jatau, Mohammed said for the past 50 years, the scheme had exposed millions of youths to the cultures and traditions of the Nigerian societies as well as impacting skills and experiences to enhance those they had acquired in school.

The governor called on the corps members to feel free to integrate with members of their host communities and participate actively in their developmental efforts.

“My dear compatriots, the success or otherwise of your service is to a large extent dependent on the foundation laid during the orientation course.

“The orientation exercise is designed to prepare you for challenges you may face during the service year and beyond.

“I implore you to actively participate in all camp activities so as to adequately equip yourself for challenges ahead,” he said.

The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration toward supporting the scheme in the state and promised to ensure that necessary appropriation would continue to be provided to sustain the gains of the service corps.

He also promised to continue to provide for the welfare and secondary needs of all corps members deployed to the state.

Earlier, the Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, said that the orientation course was planned to task the corps members physically, mentally and emotionally.

According to her, the course
content of the programme was shaped and streamlined to instill in them physical and leadership qualities for future challenges.

“I urge them all to actively participate in these events and programmes as their confidential assessment commence
right from the orientation camp,” she said.

She explained that at the end of the registration exercise of the corps members on Monday, a total of 1,409 prospective corps members, consisting of 746 males and 663 females were registered.

Stakeholders Task Bauchi South Senator On Abandon FG Roads Projects, Security

The Bauchi South Stakeholders in Bauchi State have tasked the Senator representing the senatorial district, Sen Shehu Buba to take proactive steps on completion of abandoned Federal Government roads projects as well as tackling the security challenges in the Constituency.

They made the call at Bauchi South Stakeholders Interactive Session on Saturday in Bauchi. They have cried out to the Senator on the number of abandoned FG roads projects in the constituency.

Mrs Maryam Bagel lamented over abandoned FG roads projects in the senatorial districts by the previous administration.

“We have a number of road projects awarded by the Federal Government that link the Constituency from Dass , Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi Gombe, Tafawa Balewa Jos among others.

“Those roads, if completed , would boost agricultural and economic activities in the constituency and the state,” She said.

Also Speaking, Mr Aminu Tukur noted that the security situation in the constituency is worrisome, urging the senator to find a way of addressing security challenges and farmers’ harder clashes.

“Majority of the citizens are Farmers they need support to embark on farming and as well provide skills acquisition to the teaming unemployed youths,” Tukur said.

Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Marafa, Chairman of the session commended the Senator initiated the interactive session

“Let me remind us that we are living in a democratic society operating a presidential system of government where powers are separated among the Executive,Legislative and the Judiciary.

“The three tiers of Government
comprising the Federal, States and Local Government Councils.
Ours is a society of multi linguistics, multi religious and multi- ethnic Society.,” He said.

On his part , Sen Buba appreciated the Stakeholders for attending the interactive session, saying as a politician and leader, I understand what it means to have the support of the people.

“Using the instrument of this kind of programme, we will drive the process of bringing positive change in the lives of our people through quality, responsible and result oriented representation insha Allah.

“This kind of engagement, a sure realistic and sustainable path to achieving the socio- political, educational and other developmental goals of Bauchi South Senatorial District are realized.

He added that “we need the wisdom of our elders, support and encouragement of our traditional rulers, the sound ideas of our scholars, guidance of religious clerics, energy and commitment of youth to move forward.
