Gov Fintiri Flags Off 4.8km Demsa Township Road

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has in continuation of his developmental strides across the 21 local government areas of the state flags off the construction of 4.8km township roads in Demsa with a pledge to soon commence the construction of a cottage hospital in the area

The flag off of the project spanning from Demsa town to old Demsa followed recent approval by the state executive council to that regard

Fintiri described Demsa as one of the local government areas in the state that is dear to his heart which he holds in high esteem hence his commitment to fulfill his policy thrust of ensuring that no one is left behind nothing is left untouched.

The Governor made bold to say that government’s presence is felt across all the 226 wards of the state restating that it is poised to ensure it correct all the ills of the immediate past APC administration

He believes the masses can attest to the developmental strides recorded by the present administration despite the hardship occasioned by COVID-19 promising to continue to make judicious use of resources at his disposal.

Government he reiterated is bent on building the future of the state through its free education policy and all largesse introduced in the sector,restructuring of the health sector, infrastructure,among other successes

Earlier, Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar said the 4.8km Demsa township road is part of government’s intervention to the area, maintaining that the Governor has transversed all nooks and crannies of the state assuring of the commitment of technical staff of the ministry to ensure quality delivery

Representative of Messrs Triacta Nigeria Ltd appreciated the trust reposed in the company by the present administration and reassured of their determination to abide by specifications and timeframe of the project.

In his goodwill message, Dauda Teneke expressed gratitude of the entire community to the Governor for immensely touching their lives especially through developmental strides promising to rally round him for continuity comes 2023.

Fintiri Swears In Judges, Charges Them To Protect Judiciary

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Tuesday swore into office 6 new Judges with a call on them to live up to the oaths they have subscribed to and protect the judiciary as the last hope of all but to safeguard the democracy

At the event which held in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola, Governor Fintiri reminded the judges that they are Coming at a critical time as the country approaches another general election which might result in post election litigation.

While congratulating the Judiciary over the feat achieved, Governor Fintiri said government is committed to holding the dictates of separation of power among the three arms of government as enshrined in the constitution.

He further said in Adamawa, the government has not only granted the legislature and Judiciary autonomy but has continued to support them whenever the need arises and it shall continue to sustain that for the progress of the state and its people.

He admonished the judges sworn in on the sanctity of oaths sworn, reminding them of the need to soberly reflect on the wordings as it remains a sacred covenant with God as well as a moral burden.

“As a government, we are as always, committed to upholding the dictates of separation of powers as enshrined in our Constitution. Our constitution demands that the three organs of government (the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary) are to function independently.

“This independence cannot be guaranteed if it is not accompanied by an autonomy that confers on, especially the judiciary an unfettered right to appoint, promote and discipline judicial officers. Added to these is the right over its financing.

“In Adamawa State we have not only demonstrated our devotion to the spirit of this autonomy but have gone extra-mile to support each other in our organic hours of needs. This we shall continue to sustain for the progress of our dear State and our people.

“The oath you take upon assumption of public office is a sacred covenant with God as well as a moral burden. You and only you have the responsibility for the discharge of this burden and the attendant questions of embedded in the covenant.

“Personally, I use to share this story with people, that all my life I have never felt so fearful like the day I stood and held the Holy Quran alone and swore to work for Adamawa State. My wife, my children and my entire family were all there and none supported me in holding the Qur’an.

“It simply reminds me at all time that the burden is mine alone and God will ask only me on this responsibility. This reminder has remained my guiding compass throughout all my public dealings. My humble counsel is, never forget the dictates of your oath in all your dealings,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn in judges, Justice Muhd Ibrahim Tola lauded Governor Fintiri for being a pillar to the judiciary pledging their indebtedness to his administration by justifying the confidence reposed in them.

Those sworn in as High court judges include Muhammed Ibrahim Tola, Ahmad Isa, Christopher Dominic Mapeo and Benjamin Manji and Yusuf Khalid was sworn in as Grand khadi while Abdabala Nicholas was sworn as Customary Judge.

The oath of office and allegiance were administered on the new judges by the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdulrahman.

Gov Fintiri Unveils Compendium For Youth, Women Empowerment

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Tuesday unveiled the compendium for youth and women empowerment published by Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Creation Agency (PAWECA) in the state.

The book is showcasing the achievements of Governor Umaru Fintiri in the area of youths and women empowerment.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fintiri said Youth and Human capital development are amomg the cardinal components of his administration towards eradicating poverty and unemployment.

Fintiri said his administration has took up the challenge of addressing the menace of unemployment by deploying the multifaceted approach and laid the institutional framework for the entrenchment of sustainability.

He disclosed that so far over 20,000 youth and women have benefitted from cash grants ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 Naira monthly through PAWECA under the Adamawa State Social Support Programme (ADSSSP).

“Therefore at inception we commissioned a study on the poverty situation and youth unemployment rate in the State. The findings revealed a frightening poverty trend that is linked to the unemployment of our productive force.

“The same study also made far-reaching recommendations that were attainable in the short, medium and long terms. As a government that believes in the power of systematic and knowledge based approach to solving existential problems, we adopted the recommendations of the study for implementation.

“Our short term measure was the introduction of social investment programmes to provide cushioning effects, while our medium term measure was to build the capacity of our people by providing skills for trade and entrepreneurship,” he said.

He called on people of goodwill, the well to do, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Corporate Organizations to continue to collaborate with his administration and support MDAs in the area of youth and women empowerment.

In her remarks, Head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello who noted that poverty and unemployment are global phenomenon, lauded Governor Fintiri for keeping commitment to youths empowerment despite fragility of Adamawa Finances.

“I stand here to say this without fear of any contradiction that Governor Umaru Fintiri is a no nonsense to nepotism. He always expects leaders to do justice and spread developments across the 226 wards, She said.

The State Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Iliya James said the Government has trained over 20,000 persons on various skills which he said is an indelible marks on the lives of the youths in Adamawa.

“You have approved training of 20,000 youths on hands skills training. You have approved the training of physically challenged persons, 4,000 cooperatives will be empowered. We remain grateful to what you are doing to Adamawa,” he said.

Highlights of the event were presentation of Awards to Governor Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa First Lady Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Secretary to the State Government SSG Malam Bashiru Ahmad.

Other recipients of the awards were PAWECA partners such as International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) among others for their contributions towards empowerment of Youths and Women.

Ahead of the forthcoming elections, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State who is seeking for re-election under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has met with leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state.

He was at the CAN State Secretariate in Yola Monday at the instance of the leadership where the officials asked him what he intends to do for the state if re-elected for a second tenue in office.

He started with the security sector where he narrated how his administration has redefined the security architecture that was hitherto in the state of shamble.

He said the government has injected thinking and funds that changed the narratives, enabling the citizens sleep with their two eyes close across the state.

On education, Fintiri said his administration has inherited a comatose system but injected a lot of commitment and resources to revive the sector.

According to him, the successes recorded has helped the government to renovating 5,000 classrooms, announcing that arrangements are in the pipeline to upgrade ten legacy schools in the state.

He added that the government has provided free education and relieved parents burden of payment of WAEC and NECO adding however that UNICEF has also built eighty schools in Fufore and Guyuk and it is set to construct more.

Governor Fintiri has made clarifications over some unwarranted rumours on the workforce, saying his administration has never sacked 10,000 workers as being speculated in some quarters.

He said the Government has only stopped the last minute biased recruitment of 1,500 teachers by then outgoing administration and employed 2,000 competent teachers through a clean process.

Speaking on the Health sector, Fintiri said over 100 primary healthcare centres were built and renovated, eight new cottage hospitals with staff quarters were built and equipped with modern facilities while health workers were also employed.

The Governor said his administration is also reforming the infrastructural sector, as the government has constructed 347km rural roads, built many urban roads in the state capital and some towns.

Governor Fintiri said his administration has initiated Adamawa Agribusiness Support Programme to tap the potentiality in the agric sector for youth employment, improve revenue generation and welfare of the citizens.

He said the Government has also cleared backlog of gratuity of retired workers to the tune of N5b, improved payment of monthly pensions and welfare of retirees across the state.

The Governor has also spoke on environment, housing, Internally Generated Revenue among other sectors and sought for support of the Chiristian Leaders, promising to redouble efforts if reelected.

Earlier, the State Chairman of CAN, Bishop Dami Mamza said Christians in the state are committed to Adamawa unity as according to him, God has endowed the state with all the potentialities to achieve greatness for the citizens.
