NCFRMI Distributes Relief Items To IDPs Households In Bauchi

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), has distributed relief items to 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) households in Bauchi state.

Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Federal Commissioner of the commission, Flagg off the distribution of the relief items on Saturday in Bauchi, said it is part of the commission mandate to reach out to the displaced people.

She said the relief items distributed are food and non-food items to over 200 households IDPs in some communities of Bauchi state.

Represented by Alhaji Bello Mohammed, Acting Director Human Resources of the Commission said it became necessary to reach out to persons of concerns especially with the increasing number of displaced persons in the country.

“It is worthy to note that NCFRMI is fully committed to seeking for ways to alleviate the plight of our persons of concern and ensure zero hunger for IDPs.

“As well as asylum seekers,refugees and stateless persons through livelihood programs and other activities of the commission,” she said.

According to her, the beneficiaries are from Rundebe, Trum , Mori and Adamami communities of Bauchi, Misau and Shira local government areas of the state.

The relief items include Rice 25kg, Maize,25kg , Millet 25kg, beans 25kg Noodles, toiletries,

Others are palm and groundnut oil mattresses, mats , buckets, cups and sanitary pads,” she said.

Suleiman-Ibrahim disclosed that the Commission commenced training of IDPs’ various vocational skills and businesses to become self-reliant.

She explained that there was renewed interest by President Buhari and the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs ,Hajia Sadiya Umar to the plight of IDPs in the country.

In a remark,Dr Abubakar Mamsa, representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) appreciated the Commission under the Federal Government for providing succor to the IDPs in the state.

“We appreciate the gesture by the Commission for what it is doing in the country, particularly for including Bauchi in their gesture,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries against selling the relief materials given to them.

“Do not sell the items you are giving and make sure you put it to good use,” he said.

Malam Yusuf Mohammed who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, said the relief items will go a long way in ameliorating their suffering.

“We Commended President Mohammadu Buhari and the commission for considering our situation.,” He said.

Insecurity: Law-maker Donates Relief Materials To Over 10,000 Constituents In Taraba

The member representing Bali/Gassol at the House of Representatives, Hon. Gambo Mubarak has distributed food and nonfood items worth millions of naira to the people of his constituency.

The event took place in the state capital, Jalingo for security purposes.

Mubarak explained that the materials were distributed mostly to victims of banditry and kidnapping activities in his constituency.

Commenting on the insecurity, Hon. Gambo Mubarak urged the service chiefs to constitute a joint operation to flush out bandits in all their hides out in the state.

He also urged Governor Darius Ishaku to meet with President Muhammed Buhari as a matter of urgency to find a solution to the menace to enable people to go to their farms and do other business activities.

He, however, appealed to the people of his constituency and the state at large to redouble efforts in their prayers for Allah’s intervention.

A former Senator in the 3rd republic, representing Taraba Central, Sen. Ibrahim Goje described the gesture by the lawmaker as timely as according to him the masses are suffering as a result of insecurity.

Some of the beneficiaries Jauro Umaru, Bilkisu Obida, Ibrahim Adamu who is a blind as well as Blessing Emmanuel Bali all appreciated the gesture and advised other politicians in the state to emulate Gambo Mubarak.

PVC Registration: Adamawa Police Vows To Arrest, Prosecute Saboteurs

The Adamawa state Police Command has vowed to prosecute any one or group of persons caught disrupting electoral process of Permanent Voters Cards registration in the state.

Spokesman of the Command,S.P Suleiman Nguroje issued the warning through a press statement in Yola weekend disclosing that intelligent report at the disposal of the police revealed that some group of people are going around PVC registration centres creating confusion deliberately.

Nguroje stated that the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state Command,CP Sikiru Akande has directed all the police formations including Area Commanders,Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure necessary measures apply in addressing the ugly situation in their respective areas.

“Following intelligence report made available to Police that some group of people are going around PVC registration centres disrupting the process and making it difficult for those yet to be registered to get registered.

“The CP hereby statutorily mandated all Divisional Police Officers,Operational Commanders and their Supervisory Area Commanders to ensure that prevention and detection of crime remains their top priority.

“Our Command’s Operational assets will be deployed to detect and arrest individual or group found committing any crime to face the full wrath of the law”.the statement assured.

According to the statement,the police search light will be beamed on the activities of the commercial Tricycles and motorcycles especially late night operators urging the public to cooperate with the police in volunteering useful information.

Recalled that few weeks ago a religious faith based Association has raised alarm over such allegation that certain group of different faith are blocking its followers to get registered in some local government areas of the state.

Bauchi Govt To Recruit 2,000 Youth Into Vigilante To Improve Security

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir has expressed his administration’s determination to take drastic action against anyone found supporting or hiding criminal elements in the state.

The Governor made the declaration when he paid a sympathy visit to the people of Shafa and Duguri district in Alkaleri local government area over the incessant attack by bandits in the area.

Muhammad who expressed worry over the high level of insecurity in the area, charged people of the state to be vigilant as well as exposing any suspicious element to security agencies, promising to prosecute anyone found feeding the bandits with information.

He added that the state government will employ over two thousand youths into vigilante so as to improve security of lives and prosperity of the Citizens.

He therefore commended the effort of various security agencies for their rapid response, calling on the state commissioner of Police to redeploy some personal who work for some period in the area.

Earlier, the state commissioner of Police Umar Mamman Sanda said the command is determined to flushed out all criminal elements in the state, and urged the people to always give necessary information to various security agencies in order to bring peace and unity in state.

Report indicates that some bandits have invaded some communities in the areas of Alkaleri local government where they kill some people and abduct many within the week.
