Bauchi Gov Appoints Nuhu Wabi As New Emir Of Jama’are

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed a Retired Permanent Secretary in State Government Alhaji Nuhu Ahmad Muhammad Wabi as the new Emir of Jama’are.

The Development makes Alhaji Nuhu Ahmad Wabi the tenth among rulers of the Fulani Kingdom.

Presenting the appointment letter at the Emir’s Palace, the Secretary to the State Government Barr. Ibrahim Muhammed Kashim said the appointment was based on merit and overall interest of the people.

While congratulating him for the appointment, the Governor charged the Emir to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs Abdurrazak Nuhu Zaki who was part of the entourage, expressed confidence with the ability of the Emir to deliver quality leadership that would take the emirate to greater hight.

Responding, the New Emir Alh. Ahmad Muhammad Wabi appreciated the Governor for considering him worthy among the seven candidates that applied for the position.

Nuhu Wabi pledged to establish harmonious working relationship with all the traditional institutions across the state.

He called on his subjects to extend the support and cooperation accorded to his father to enable him succeed

Our reporter observed that the appointment was generally accepted by people of the emirate as the government delegation was peacefully received by a mammoth crowd.

Gov Radda Suspends Teacher Over Alleged Sexual Harassment Of Female Student

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has directed the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hadiza Yar’adua to suspend a teacher Lawal Ibrahim for alleged sexual harassment of a female student of Government Day Secondary School, Dantankari in Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

Friday’s directive came shortly after Governor Radda received a report alleging that the said Lawal, the school’s principal, was allegedly involved in sexual harassment against a female student of the same school.

The governor in a statement signed by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director of Press for the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari directed the State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to investigate the allegation, take appropriate action and report back to him.

He further directed the State Commissioner of Police Abubakar Musa to also investigate the allegation and to probe the DPO Dandume on the allegation of gratification and compromise of the matter and report back to Governor Radda. Channels TV.

Gov Fintiri Presents N225.8bn 2024 Budget To Adamawa Assembly

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Friday presented N225.8bn 2024 appropriation bill to the House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

Tagged ‘Budget of Reengineering’, the estimate has N111.3bn representing 49.3% as recurrent services while N114.5bn naira representing 50.7% is to cover the capital expenditure.

The budget which is higher than N214.2bn of 2023 is articulated on the current economic indicators of Oil Production Bench Mark; 1.78 million Barrels Per Day, oil Price Bench Mark; $77.96/barrel, Exchange Rate; N750/$, National Real GDP Growth Rate; 3.75% and National Inflation Rate; 21.5%.

Speaking during the presentation on the floor of the House, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the proposed budget is in line with the 2024- 2026 Medium-term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF and FSP).

“The additional breakdown of the 2024 proposed Annual Budget in terms of Revenue and Expenditure is as follows: Economic Line-item Description 2024 Proposed Budget has Statutory Allocation; N68.047bn.

“Share of VAT; N47.7bn, and Ecological Fund; N1bn, Exchange Rate Difference; N16bn, Non-oil Revenue; N6.6bn and Other FAAC Transfers; N2.2bn

“Internally Generated Revenue; N22.2bn, Aids and Grants; N4.9bn, Capital Receipts; N57.1bn, giving the total estimate to N225.8bn,” said Governor Umaru Fintiri.

According to the budget, the Ministry of Works and Energy Development gets
N25.5bn, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has N15.6bn.

“Ministry of Health and Human Services;
N6,3bn, Ministry of Finance N6,066bn, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development N4.9bn, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development; N4,6bn.

Highlighting the major policy objectives of the budget, Governor Fintiri said the state will continue with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) programme which is in full implementation in the state.

He directed all MDAS to quote the classification Code and the balance of Vote of Charge on their memos when requesting for release of funds, to enable our financial experts to properly classify and track releases as appropriate.

Fintiri added that the State Government will continue to train and equip the Civil Servants with Skills that will enhance their desk function toward better service delivery in the state.

According to the Governor, the state will continue to ensure that some of the State’s untapped sources of Internally Generated Revenue are harnessed, and properly tapped towards the improvement of Revenue Generation.

He further said his administration while carrying out its duties in generally all social and economic spheres with the required diligence, it shall focus on key priority areas to change the fortunes of the state.

Responding, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr Bathiya Wesley pledged that the House will swing into action immediately and ensure the budget is approved timely for the overall development of the state.

Adamawa Govt Proposes N225.8bn As 2024 Budget

The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved a budget proposal of N225.8bn for the 2024 fiscal year.

The expenditure tagged ‘Budget of Reengineering’ was approved during the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kafulto revealed this after the meeting held in the Council Chambers Government House, Yola.

Mrs Geoffrey Kafulto said the budget was crafted by the government based on citizens’ needs.

Contributing, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Emmanuel Piridimso said N111.3bn representing 49.3% was earmarked for recurrent services while N114.5bn naira representing 50.7% is to cover the capital expenditure.

The proposed budget according to the Commissioner is ready to be presented to the state House of Assembly on Friday this week for consideration and approval.
