Across sections of participants at the 3 day workshop on development of Adamawa property tax framework and assessment have described the training as an eye-opener to them in ensuring efficient and effective way of taxing properties within the state.
The capacity building workshop which held at AUN hotel was organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), State to State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness in Adamawa State.
One of the participants, Mr John Samuel from Urban planing and development authority Yola explained that the workshop enabled him realized that there are alot of revenue sources in Adamawa.
He saluted, USAID state to state Adamawa for coming up with the training and promised to put into use what he learned to enhance revenue generation.
On her part, a participant from the State ministry of finance and budget, Maryam Shuiabu said she gained much knowledge on what property tax was all about.
Another participant, Chaniyada Adeyoyi from ministry for local government and chrifetancy affairs said the capacity building workshop was interesting and educative.
Earlier in his welcome address, the state team lead of state to state said the objectives of the workshop is to develop robust and comprehensive framework for property tax administrations in the state.
It also trained Adamawa State Board of internal revenue and state officials on tax assessment of properties captured in electronics database, develop guide on property valuation and tax assessment along others.
A facilitator and consultant, Doctor Chiwuike Uba who took participants on various topics which includes role and importance of property taxes, issues in property tax assessment, property identification and estimating the tax liability assessment ratio among others.
A conflict specialist,Danjuma Mohammed in his presentation urged the participants to perform their duties on the Field with caution.
The participants were drawn from the state ministry of land and survey,Urban and planing development Authority, ministry of finance and budget,board of internal revenue, civil society organizations, and ministry for local government and chrifetancy affairs among others.
