Shisha smoking is becoming a serious phenomenon battling Nigeria this is because most of our youths think smoking of Shisha is something classy which is not since it has a great danger.

This Shisha smoking can endanger the lives of most of our society because this Shisha smoking is becoming frequent activity in our communities since both females and males of our generation are smoking this Shisha on a daily basis.

Shisha smoking is not something classy to be proud of but most of our youths smoke this Shisha almost every day in a Public gathering without any panic of been arrest by the authorities in charge.

Smoking Shisha has no different with Smoking cigarette why because almost all of them provide the same amount of nicotine and this nicotine can cause a lot of disease among which are cancer, blood pressure and increasing the risk of heart attack, Oral cancer, Lung cancer, Stomach cancer, Cancer of the esophagus, Reduced lung function, Decreased fertility.

Although many users of Shisha think it is less harmful and Shisha smoking has many of the same health risk as cigarette smoking that almost all the people that smoke it don’t have idea about.

Because of the way a Shisha is used, people who smoke Shisha may absorb more of the toxic substances also found in cigarette smoke than people who smoke cigarettes do.

Many of our youths think Shisha is not injurious but even if you use tobacco free shisha, the smoke still produces harmful levels of toxins which can be either just as bad for you or even more harmful than smoke from tobacco-based shisha.

Lastly, I want to give a word of advice to my fellow youths to shun vices and pleases to blind this Shisha smoking for the betterment of their health.

Reverend Father Maurice Kwairanga, the Parish Priest of Saint Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Ngurore is emphasizing the need for educational reform in Nigeria, rather than just changing the national anthem.

He believes that the energy spent on changing the anthem could have been better spent addressing the issues in the education system, such as decay in public schools and institutions.

The priest said this during a mass to commemorate Saint Charles Lwanga Day and also unveiled a learning institute to address the decaying standard of education across the country.

He said it is worrisome that structures in public schools are now death traps, and unqualified teachers are now mentors of the younger generation.

He said the church has taken the initiative to establish a new school, Saint Charles Lwanga Nursery, primary school, and college, to contribute to improving education in the country.

“We will build a world-class school in this part of Nigeria. As a church, we might not have the funds at the moment, but we have the will to do it. The Saint Charles Lwanga Nursery and Primary will have all the modern teaching equipment and qualified teachers, unlike what is obtainable in the public schools”

His message highlights the importance of prioritizing education to drive meaningful change and development in Nigeria.

As a church leader, he lent his voice in calling for patriotic Nigerians to invest in education by supporting initiatives that will strengthen the sector and improve the standard of education.

Highlights of the Saint Charles Lwanga Day in Ngurore were traditional dances from different communities.
