The Bronnum Lutheran Seminary (BLS) Yola has matriculated 120 students for the year 2021/2022 academic session at the 37th Commencement Service/Matriculation Ceremony of the institution.
Leading the Commencement ceremony at the Jolly Nyame Hall, BLS Yola, the Archbishop LCCN and President Lutheran World Federation, Most Rev. Musa Panti Filibus charged the matriculants to use every opportunity in the Seminary to acquire knowledge spirually, pastorally and socially.
He added that their willingness to acquire knowledge will enable them to know Christ and have vast knowledge.
Encouraging the Matriculants while quoting from Gospel of Matthew 11:29, Arch Bishop Filibus stated that the Seminary has qualified lecturers who will impact positively on the students.
He enjoined the Seminarians not to only acquire the prerequisite in Seminary but to cultivate the habit of act of listening, sacrifice and humility, learn self discipline and tolerance; maintaining they should consider their enrolment into the Seminary as an act of God.
The Provost Bronnum Lutheran Seminary, Yola Dr Rev. Sekenwa Moses Briska, disclosed that the BLS has received certification of registration from the Adamawa State Ministry of Tertiary and Professional Education, guaranteeing operation of the Seminary as tertiary institution.
According to the Provost, the BLS has received three students from Sierra Leone to study Master of Theology Degree and Bachelor Degree programmes.
He explained that the total of 136 students were admitted into different programmes in the Seminary out of which 120 students were matriculated into the Bronnum Lutheran Seminary Yola for 2021/22 academic session.
He said that one student was matriculated in Lutheran Doctrine, 33 in full time Diploma DCM, 20 full time Diploma DCRE, 3 Post Graduate Diploma in Theology, 35 Degree BA 1 CRS, 17 Degree BA 2 CRS (Direct Entry), 2 Masters of Divinity MVD 2 years, Master Divinity MDV 3 years and 8 Masters of Theology MTH .
The provost charged the matriculating students to take their studies serious, and accept to diversify their knowledge through intellectual discourses as theology will take them through global academic experience.
Rev. Sekenwa Moses Briska revealed that as part of the successes recorded by the BLS Yola, the students have academic gowns which will be used for various lrogrammes in the institution.
He appealed to the genearal public to help in building facilities in the institution that include additional Staff Quarters, hostel accommodation, classrooms, computer (ICT) centre, perimeter fencing and expansion of the Chapel.
He announced to the graduated students of the Seminary in 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18, that their certificates are ready for collection at the BLS Yola.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Provost, BLS Yola, Rev. Pwanangba Jediton thanked the President Lutheran World Federation Most Rev. Musa Panti Filibus, the Church, and the general public for rendering their unflinching support to the Seminary.
