Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Monday assured the unrelenting drive of his administration in the fight against drug abuse, stressing that it is the collective responsibility of all to rid the country of the menace.
The Governor while speaking during a courtesy visit by the management of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA at the Council Chamber glGovernment House Yola appealed to the Federal Government to adequately fund the agency for result.
The Governor appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing a son of the state to head the agency believing that with his experience, knowledge, and capacity he will relentlessly work towards re-engineering the fight against illicit drugs.
Governor Fintiri who revealed that his administration is tirelessly working with the agency to rid the state of the menace pledged to continue to give and strengthen the agency within available resources across the state.”We will continue to give and strengthen the agency within available resources and across the state. Drug abuse should be fought vigorously else it rids the society of its good,’ he said.
According to him, drug abuse should be fought vigorously else it rids the society of its good virtues noting that all negative vices revolves around drug abuse which informed him upon assumption of office to accord priority to the agency.
He appealed to the federal government to adequately fund the agency in order for it to achieve its mandate of fighting the crime of drug abuse.

Earlier The Chairman NDLEA Brigadier General Muhammadu Buba Marwa lauded the achievements recorded so far by the Fintiri led administration especially in Michika where he is a stakeholder and urging him not to relent in making Adamawa great again
Brigadier General Marwa said he is in the state on a familiarisation visit and also to make assessments of the agency’s office and its activities in Adamawa.
Nigeria according to him is in serious crisis ranging from kidnapping,armed banditry,insurgency, behind which is the issue of abuse of drugs.
The Chairman Commended the efforts of the Governor in the fight against the proliferation of drugs and solicited for the establishment of a rehabilitation center in the capital and across the twenty one local government areas of the state “Nigeria is in serious crisis crime behind which is the issue of abuse of drugs. Until we get to the bottom of the drug abuse scourge no success will be achieved,” he said.
Highlight of the event was presentation of souvenir to Governor Umaru Fintiri by the Chairman of the NDLEA.
