Pitapwa To Kick Off Inter-local Govt Football Tournament in Adamawa

Arrangements have been concluded for commencement of inter local government football competition which will hold from 5th to 17th February 2023 in Yola, Adamawa State.

The tournament is being sponsored by a philanthropist, Pitapwa F. Vokito who is an indegene of Adamawa State with the aim of uniting the Youths especially at this time of politicking.

At the unveiling of the Pitapwa Unity Football Cup 2023 Monday at the NUJ Press Centre, Yola, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Comrade Danladi Jonah said the main aim of the games is to integrate the Youths.

He said the competition would provide a platform to showcase the reach football skills and talents in the state and called on all the participating teams to abide by the rules and guidelines of the tournament.

On his part, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the tournament Mr. Clement Almo briefed the Press on the level of preparations from the side of the Football Association (FA) Adamawa State and promised to give a standard tournament.

The FA Chairman Adamawa State, Mr Furo appreciated the sponsor of the competition, Mr. Pitapwa F. Vokito and called on the people to cooperate with the organizers for a hitch free tournament.

Among others present during the unveiling of the competition were FA Secretary and other board members as well as Vice chairman of Adamawa State Supporters Club.

Sahel Reporters Correspondent reports that, each of the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State will be represented by a team at the tournament while cash prices and gifts will be won at the end.

February Polls: Galadima Calls on Electorates To Vote For Sports-Loving Candidates

Chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Galadima has called on Electorates to vote for Sports-loving candidates in the forthcoming General elections. 

He made the plea while declaring open, a One-Day Capacity Building Programme organized by the Sports Without Borders Development Association (SWIBODA) held in Kano State, North West Nigeria.

“In less than forty days Nigerians will gather at polling units to elect those that will steer the activities of the country for the next four years”, the Galadiman Fagge said, 

According to him, more than 65 percent of the inhabitants of Kano State are Sports Loving people, hence, the need for them to Elect leaders that will promote Sports both at the Local and National Levels.

Dr. Ibrahim Galadima also highlighted some of the achievements recorded so far by the Delta State Government during the 2022 National Sports Festival in terms of Sporting Facilities, hence his call on the electorates to vote for sports-loving Governorship Candidates. 

The Chairman used the avenue to call on members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, to use their mediums in enlightening Youths both in the state and the country to vote for such Candidates. 

He prayed for a peaceful and credible 2023 General elections.

NFF President, Gusau Describes SWAN As the Backbone Of Sports Development

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has described the Sports writers Association of Nigeria as the backbone of Sports development in the country.

He made the statement at a One-Day Capacity Building programme organized by the Sports Without Borders Development Association (SWIBODA) held in Kano state, North West Nigeria.

The 40th President of the Nigerian Football Federation was represented by the Northwest Board member and Kano state FA Chairman, Dr. Shareef Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan.

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau who highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the outfit in the soccer game both in Nigeria and beyond also traced the history of the association which was founded in 1964, four years after the Independence of Nigeria with the sole aim of promoting sports and socio-cultural values.

Gusau applauded the association for its contributions to promoting sporting activities, especially the round leather game.

The NFF President used the avenue to express his happiness for honouring the occasion and said his door will remain open to members of the Sportswriters Association of Nigeria.

Others who spoke at the event included the Chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, Dr, Ibrahim Galadima, and Oba of Yoruba in Kano, Muritala Engineer Alimi Otisese, and Kano NUJ Chairman, Abbas Ibrahim among others.
