The All Progressives Congress APC in Takum LGA of Taraba State on Saturday expelled the Senator-elect representing Taraba South at the National Assembly, Hon. Jimkuta David for alleged anti-party activities.
This is contained in a letter signed by the APC faction Chairman of Takum LGA, Hon. Sirajo Sallau, and made available to SAHEL REPORTERS.
It says “the Executive Committee of the party after due deliberation of the report of the Disciplinary Committee that was set up and investigated the allegations of gross anti-party activities leveled against Hon. Jimkuta David as provided under Article 21 (B) (i)-(vi) of the APC Constitution (2022 as amended) has ratified and approved the expulsion of Hon. Jimkuta David from the party as recommended by the Disciplinary Committee.”
The letter highlighted some of the alleged anti-party activities carried out by Hon. Jimkuta David including sponsoring and openly campaigning for a rival political party, the PDP in Taraba State and its Governorship candidate, open express and tacit denunciation of the APC and its Governorship candidate.
Another allegation against the Senator-elect, Jimkuta David by some members of the party was the open canvassing of votes for the PDP and its Governorship candidate during the just concluded 2023 governorship and state house of assembly elections.
However, the letter was attached with a list of 19 names and signatures out of the 27 APC Executives in Takum LGA.
Responding to the allegations, the Director of Publicity and Strategy, Jimkuta Campaign Organization, Mr. Adi Huseini debunked the allegations leveled against his principal and described it as a handwork of mischief makers who refused to concede defeat.
“As am talking to you, we have not received any letter of that nature officially. We only saw it flying on social media, and I contacted the legitimate APC Chairman of Takum LGA in the person of Hon. Abdulwaziru Salihu Mijinyawa and he confirmed to me that he was not aware of such mischievous and baseless allegations.
“He even came out on the media and debunked it, that the purported letter was not emanated from him. So, even today I spoke with my principal in preparation for the Re-run of Takum, Donga, and Ussa Federal Constituency.
“Don’t forget we defeated a sitting Governor and won the Senate seat, and we also won the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency all in this our great party the APC and we are still working hard to win the Takum, Donga, and Ussa Federal Constituency for the APC.
“So, what kind of anti-party are they talking about? As far as am concerned we are working for our party and we don’t want to push anybody out of the party because we are all one and we are calling on all of our members to come and join hands together for the benefit of all as well as the development of our zone.
Recalled that on Friday 17th of March 2023, the Supreme Court affirms Hon. Jimkuta David as the authentic candidate of the APC for the Taraba South Senatorial election that was held on February 25th, 2023.
